Patent number: 12161956Abstract: A filter cartridge includes a tubular core movably oriented within an inner liner and having a projection having a flow passageway. The core is free-floating and movable between a first position, in which the core can move along a longitudinal axis of the core, and a sealed position, in which the core is sealed to an inner liner of the cartridge. In the sealed position, the flow passage through the projection can provide an air flow passage of air within an inner cavity to outside of the filter cartridge. Other arrangements include a filter cartridge with a free-floating core, which forms a fuel bypass between the core and a standpipe.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2021Date of Patent: December 10, 2024Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: Mark C. Shepherd, Jeremy R. Reem, Matthew A. Musich

Publication number: 20240261711Abstract: A valve arrangement includes a valve shaft having a fluid flow bore, and valve gear projections or teeth projecting from the valve shaft, constructed and arranged to receive a force to rotate the valve shaft. The valve arrangement can be used in a filter assembly having cartridge projections such as gear teeth to mesh with the teeth on the valve gear.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Inventors: Kurt B. Joscher, Mark C. Shepherd, Brent T. Harrold, Michael S. Courneya

Publication number: 20240173653Abstract: A bowl filter cartridge has an annular trap to catch and collect any contaminant, debris, or unfiltered fuel remaining in the filter housing during filter service. This prevents material being collected in the trap from being transferred to the clean side of a new filter, thereby reducing engine exposure.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2022Publication date: May 30, 2024Applicant: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventor: Mark C. Shepherd

Publication number: 20240100453Abstract: A filter cartridge has media construction, a housing, and a first end construction. The first end constructions includes an outer radial wall with circumferentially spaced connecting sections; each connecting section having a plurality of helical profiles extending at a helix angle. The filter cartridge is removably attached to a filter head, which has mating connecting segments. A bowl cartridge assembly is also provided including connecting sections with a plurality of helical profiles.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Kurt B. Joscher, Mark C. Shepherd, Patricia L. Palmby

Patent number: 11220636Abstract: A hydrocarbon-in-water purification system includes a high capacity hydrocarbon absorber stage having a high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material and an inlet configured to receive a hydrocarbon-in-water dispersion from a fuel system. A polishing hydrocarbon absorber stage is in liquid communication and downstream of the high capacity hydrocarbon absorber stage including polishing activated carbon. The high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material has a greater saturation capacity than the polishing activated carbon and the polishing activated carbon has a greater polishing capacity than the high capacity hydrocarbon absorber material. A method for controlling and managing the evacuation of water from the hydrocarbon-in-water purification system includes tracking the purification state of water volumes and the bed loading states of purification beds defined in the water filter.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2019Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: Donaldson Company, Inc.Inventors: Davis B. Moravec, Andrew J. Dallas, Joseph M. Block, Bradly G. Hauser, Cullen E. Hall, Mark C. Shepherd, Mike J. Madsen
