Abstract: Replacement modules are mapped to a telematics subscriber's account to allow a provider to properly manage a subscriber's services. Aspects of the invention allow vehicle dealer personnel to map replacement modules automatically through a provider website without contacting a live advisor. Subsequently, the provider automatically completes configuration of the replacement module via a wireless network.

Abstract: A method for manipulating some of the contents of an XML file in order to standardize and optimize its user-defined portions without breaking the XML syntax. More specifically, the manipulation method can standardize various user-defined terms developed by different authors, thus producing XML-based messages utilizing a more consistent and familiar set of terms. At the same time, the manipulation method optimizes the user-defined terms in a manner that reduces the amount of data associated with the resultant XML-based message. This standardized and optimized set of user-defined terms results in the use of fewer bytes of information per XML-based message, which can translate into faster and less expensive data transmissions. The manipulation method is particularly well suited for use with SOAP-compatible XML files that are used in conjunction with wireless vehicle communications systems.

Abstract: A method for network services with a mobile vehicle comprising: initiating from a remote station a first connection session with a device in the mobile vehicle, wherein during the first connection session the device is notified of a pending command; and initiating a second connection session from the device in the mobile vehicle to the remote station in response to the first connection session, wherein the pending command is transmitted to the device in the mobile vehicle during the second session.
