Abstract: An apparatus and method for doing business over a network, such as the Internet, is provided. In operation, a web-based automated vending device can hold out a variety of commodities for sale to the public. However, rather than offer the commodities at prices set by a vendor, the automated vending device can receive offers from potential customers and decide whether to accept or decline the various offers based on the floor-prices of the commodities. In instances where a particular offer is declined, i.e., the offer is less than the respective floor-price, the automated vending device can allow the potential buyer to submit a limited number of subsequent offers.
