  • Publication number: 20040122597
Abstract: A system for and method of determining a formulation for an animal feed having a customized nucleic acid material content. The system can include an animal profile, an animal nutrient requirement profile, an evaluation criteria, and/or ingredient nutrient content profiles. The information contained in the profiles and criteria can be used to calculate a formulation having a desirable nucleic acid material content. The optimized nucleic acid material content can be used to maximize satisfaction of an evaluation criteria.

    Publication date: June 24, 2004
Applicants: Cargill, Inc., CAN Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Christiaan P.A. van de Ligt, Mark D. Newcomb, W. Michael Craig, David A. Cook
  • Publication number: 20040118351
Abstract: A system for and method of determining a formulation for an animal feed having a customized heat increment value. The system can include an animal profile, an animal nutrient requirement profile, an evaluation criteria, and/or ingredient nutrient content profiles. The information contained in the profiles and criteria can be used to calculate a formulation having a desirable heat increment value. The heat increment value can be used to maximize satisfaction of an evaluation criteria.

  • Publication number: 20040043107
Abstract: Animal feeds, which include compositions utilizing mucosa byproducts derived from mucosal material, such as digested gut material, are provided. The feeds can include a mucosa byproduct which contains at least about 10 wt. % nucleic acid material; at least about 20 wt. % mucopolysaccharides; and no more than about 10 wt. % proteinaceous material. The mucosa byproduct is produced by a process which includes digesting animal mucosal material to form a mucosal digest; and separating the mucosal digest to provide (a) a protein-enriched stream and (b) a polyanionic-enriched stream, which includes mucopolysaccharides and nucleic acid material.

  • Patent number: 6080403
Abstract: Animal food formulations, preferably dry cat foods and treats, or medicaments, e.g., tablets, gels or suppositories, that contain an amount of an enzyme (bromelain) effective to treat and/or prevent hairballs are provided. These formulations can be ingested chronically, i.e., daily, with no adverse effects.

  • Patent number: 5650184
Abstract: Coated animal feed agglomerates such as pellets are made starting with uncoated agglomerates or pellets that may be formed of easily agglomerated or pelleted ingredients but which may be lacking in desirable nutritional or other ingredients. A binder such as a viscous aqueous gel is coated onto the uncoated agglomerates or pellets. Thereafter, the damp binder coated agglomerates or pellets are dusted with a powder containing ingredients which usually are not amenable to being extruded. After the dusting powder has been applied the coated and dusted pellets are dried and cooled.
