Patent number: 11302129Abstract: Automatic retrieval using an electronic device of a previously known access code for a security device which includes identifying, using a computer, a security mechanism based on a proximity of a user to the security mechanism. The proximity of the user to the security mechanism is determined using location services for a mobile device of the user and first historical data which indicates a location of the security mechanism. Second historical data is analyzed, in response to identifying the security mechanism. An identified access code is selected based on the analysis of the second historical data. The selecting of the identified access code includes a reference relationship between the reference content, the security mechanism, and the access code. The identified access code is provided to the mobile device of the user for communication to the user, for the user to enter the code on the security mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2020Date of Patent: April 12, 2022Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Montrez Whitsett, Mark Daniel Rogalski, Gregory Wayne Roberts, Pedro Cantu

Publication number: 20150317523Abstract: A method, program product and implementing computer system are provided in which one or more a vehicle mounted cameras provide a video feed of the areas surrounding a camera-equipped (CE) vehicle to an on-board computer system for analysis and processing. The computer system determines which if any nearby vehicles pose an increased risk to the driver of the camera-equipped vehicle by analyzing image information obtained by the CE vehicle to determine unsafe driving patterns and/or an unsafe rate of closure of the nearby vehicle relative to said CE vehicle. The CE vehicle is also operable for accessing vehicle information contained in remote computer databases using a detected license plate number of nearby vehicles and informs the driver if the database record of the nearby vehicle indicates a possible current threat to the camera-equipped vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2014Publication date: November 5, 2015Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Kingsley Clark, Bryce Allen Curtis, Mark Daniel Rogalski, Kelvin Wayne Sumlin

Patent number: 7437767Abstract: The present invention is a method for enabling a trusted dialog for collection of sensitive data, including the steps of: storing a personal security token specified by a user; receiving an input dialog request from an application; determining whether the application is a signed application; and, if a determination is made that the application is a signed application, accessing the personal security token and allowing the input dialog to be displayed with the personal security token and signed application identification.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2004Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Mark Daniel Rogalski

Patent number: 7063554Abstract: A device to retrofit an existing modular connector having a flexible projecting connector tab that renders a cable to which the modular connector is connected susceptible to snagging is provided. The device is attached onto the connector and has a hollow interior, a bottom, two lateral sides, and a top. The top has a projecting tab. The projecting tab is set at an angle to allow the device tab to preclude objects from entering an opening formed by the connector tab and the connector and thus prevents the connector from snagging.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2003Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Paul Kuiken, Mark Daniel Rogalski

Patent number: 6976059Abstract: A system and method for delivering application data to both constrained and non-constrained devices. In a Java implementation, the Abstract Window Toolkit (AWT) is used when a client computer system is not constrained and is running the Java Virtual Machine. When the client computer is constrained and, therefore, is unable to execute the Java Virtual Machine, the server computer uses a second library called a Markup Language Window Toolkit (MLWT) with the same API names as in the AWT. The result of the Java Virtual Machine executing APIs from the AWT within a browser on the client computer system are graphics that appear on the client's browser display. Correspondingly, the result of a server executing a Java Virtual Machine executing APIs from the MLWT is HTML and/or JavaScript that is capable of being processed and displayed by a client computer system without using a Java Virtual Machine.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2000Date of Patent: December 13, 2005Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Mark Daniel Rogalski, Allen Chester Wynn

Patent number: 6922733Abstract: A method of accessing information on a distributed database. In a preferred embodiment, a proxy server receives a request for information from a client machine. The proxy server retrieves the information from the distributed database. The proxy server separates the information into an audio component and a visual component, and sends the audio component to an audio browser located on a client machine, and sends the visual component to a visual browser located on the client machine, thereby providing integrated speech and visual browsing.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: July 26, 2005Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Paul Kuiken, Mark Daniel Rogalski

Patent number: 6796845Abstract: A modular connector with an integrated anti-snag feature is provided. The modular connector has a first flexible tab attached at a first end of the connector. The first flexible tab has a first and a second part. The first part is connected to and projected upward and away from the first end of the connector and the second part is angled downward toward a second end of the connector but unattached thereto. The first part meets with the second part at a flexible intersection whereby a force exerted onto either the first part or the second part is enabled to depress the flexible first tab downward. The connector also has a second flexible tab. The second flexible tab is attached at the second end of the connector and is projected at an angle toward the first flexible tab. The first end and second end of the connector are at opposite ends of each other. The second flexible tab is used to prevent the connector from snagging on objects such as cables, components etc.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2003Date of Patent: September 28, 2004Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Paul Kuiken, Mark Daniel Rogalski, Paul Anthony Thayer

Patent number: 6324651Abstract: A serializable object, formed by a device driver and containing characteristics (device state) of the device, is held by a device driver and made known to a data processing system's power manager. The power manager provides a device driver independent mechanism for saving device state by retrieving each device driver's object containing device state and storing the object in a location that provides for efficient and quick retrieval. The power manager, being aware of power levels for all devices on the system, may determine where, how and when to store objects retrieved from the device drivers for most efficient retrieval. Upon receiving an interrupt indicating the system should power up, the serializable objects are retrieved by the power manager and restored to each device driver.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1998Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Joseph Kubik, Mark Daniel Rogalski, Joel L.
