  • Patent number: 5226542
Abstract: A suspension package of the type having a frame and a hammock tensioned across the frame to enfold and support a product is provided with a brace to prevent the ends of the frame from moving inwardly. This brace simultaneously provides a safety net to protect the product being loaded into the hammock. The hammock is secured to tensor flaps on the frame, and these flaps are provided with tabs which prevent the flaps from rotating inwardly past the plane of the end panels. The hammock is folded in a double fan fold at its ends to facilitate top loading and to accommodate the widest range of product sizes and shapes. Each of the tensor flaps has an inner part and an outer part, and the hammock end is sandwiched between the inner and outer parts and held in place by a double ended rivet which simultaneously operates to secure the tensor flaps in the hammock tensioning position. Cinching devices are used around the hammock to center the product within the frame.
