Patent number: 7591405Abstract: A wire frame plastic bag dispenser includes an angled lower bag roll support urging perforated, rolled plastic bags toward a bag roll restraining element attached to the frame. A constraining movement element prevents lateral movement of the bag roll. A perforation parting means separates bags as they are pulled from the roll. The bags may be folded along at least one vertical axis to form a more compact bag roll and may have a chisel cut in the perforation to aid in separation by the perforation parting means. The frame includes four corners each of approximately 90 degrees, has a C shape in a horizontal plane, and includes a dispensing end, a back end, and two sides. The lower bag roll support includes a proximal end attached to the back end and extends downwardly to a distal end. The perforation parting means may be located outwardly from the dispensing end of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2008Date of Patent: September 22, 2009Inventor: Mark E. Daniels

Patent number: 7270256Abstract: A series of roll mounted bags and dispensers are described. The bags may be folded along at least one axis and rolled. The compact roll of bags is placed in various dispensers. As the upper portion of the first bag is pulled from the roll, the roll will rotate, presenting the succeeding bag for dispensing after the first bag is removed. Variations of the dispenser include one with a bag opening means with a mounting member and bag opening element causing the bags to open as they are pulled from the dispenser. The dispenser includes mechanisms for supporting the bag roll and constraining its movement along its horizontal axis. Another variation of the dispenser has a perforation parting means that facilitates separation of one bag from a subsequent bag. The dispenser may be removably attached to a dispenser support that attaches to a surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2006Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Inventor: Mark E. Daniels

Patent number: 6843601Abstract: Plastic shopping bags having attached promotional ad strips are described. In bags have gusseted side edges the ad strips are attached within or above the gussets either by heat sealing the strip to the bottom seal and adhering the other end of the strip at the upper end of the bag or adhering the strip to the bag at both ends. In non-gusseted bags, the strips are either heat sealed to the bottom seal and adhered to the upper end of the bag or the strips are adhered at both ends to the front or rear surfaces of the bag. In gusseted T-shirt type handle bags, the intermediate portion of the ad strip is adhered to either the inside or the outside of the gusset. The strips include promotional advertising on at least one surface and include perforations allowing the advertising to be removed from the remainder of the strip.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2004Date of Patent: January 18, 2005Inventors: Mark E. Patent number: 6585197Abstract: A plastic bag and dispenser combination having a self-opening feature is described. The bag includes front and rear walls with tabs, first and second side edges, front and rear top edges, an openable mouth and sealed bottom edge. The dispenser has an upward pointing hanging means which fits through an opening in the tabs, and a positioning bar fixed horizontally at a first predetermined distance from the hanging means. When bags are suspended from the hanging means at the tabs and located over the positioning bar, they are ready for individual dispensing. The combination is also applied to T-shirt style bags. In a variant of the invention, bags are removably attached at the rear panel of a first bag to the front panel of a second bag. When the first bag is pulled from the dispenser, the rear panel pulls the front panel of the second bag forward, opening it.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2002Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Inventor: Mark E. Patent number: 6431396Abstract: A series of interleaved roll mounted bags and dispensers for them are described. The bags are folded longitudinally and rolled with an upper portion of each bag located above a lower portion of a succeeding bag. The compact roll of bags is placed in any of a variety of dispensers with the upper end of the outermost bag extending outwardly from the dispenser. As the upper portion of the first bag is pulled from the roll, the bag roll will rotate, presenting the succeeding bag for dispensing after the first bag is removed. In a variant of the invention, the rolled bags are gusseted T-shirt style shopping bags. These T-shirt bags have top and bottom seals, gusseted sides, a U-shaped cutout at the top seam, an open mouth and a pair of bag handles. Variations of the dispenser include a simple tray with an open top, and various configurations involving one or more restraining members. The dispenser may be tilted to control movement of the bag roll.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2002Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: The Avantage Group, Inc.Inventors: Mark E. Daniels, Joseph L. Patent number: 5590784Abstract: A combination of a single or double hook-mounted pack of header bags in which, to facilitate removal of each bag, there is provided along the perforation line separating each bag header from the remainder of the bag, at least one elongated opening, such as a chisel cut. This enables one to practice the method of bag removal which involves simply placing the fingers below, or in the area of the elongated opening, and pressing the fingers down against the bag pack, thereby to separate the front wall of the bag from its back wall and pull the front wall away from the bag's back wall to open the bag for filling by the clerk's other hand.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Assignee: The Avantage Group, Inc.Inventor: Mark E.
