Patent number: 5907476Abstract: A modular structure for attachment to a rail includes securement members received and supported on either side of the rail. The rail includes a support web and parallel side flanges. The structure is constructed from a molded plastic base unit to which metallic securement members are assembled. The base unit preferably includes a rigid side and a flexible side. The securement members are substantially identical to one another, facilitating manufacturing and assembly, and reducing the number of different parts in the final module. The securement members each include v-shaped slots for engaging the side flanges of the rail. The base unit may be configured as a blank end unit, or may include features for creating terminal blocks, I/O blocks, switches, circuit board supports and the like.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1997Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Assignee: Allen-Bradley Company, LLCInventor: Mark E. Patent number: 5816867Abstract: A curved wire spring clamp which distributes bending stresses linearly based on the distance from the point of load application while maintaining torsional integrity. Bending stresses are distributed by providing apertures which change the effective width of the spring along its length. In the preferred embodiment the apertures approximate a triangular cantilever and are centrally placed along each leg portion near a constrained curved portion of the spring to change the spring's bending characteristics and distribute the bending stress more evenly throughout the length of the spring thereby reducing the peak bending stress level as compared with an equivalent spring design without apertures.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1996Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: Allen Bradley Company, LLCInventors: Mark E. Davidsz, Jeffrey R. Annis

Patent number: 5145418Abstract: A terminal block segment with one pair of feet for mounting on symmetrical tracks of two different widths includes a base with a central portion, two legs spaced from the central portion, and two feet. Each foot includes an inner toe and groove that is spaced from the central portion of the base for receiving an outside edge of a respective rail on a first mounting track and an outer toe and groove that is spaced further from the central portion than the first groove for receiving an outside edge of a respective rail on a second mounting track that is wider than the first mounting track. As one foot is levered off a rail with a screwdriver, various surfaces come into play on the two feet depending on the width of track and whether it is initially contacting the inner toes or the outer toes.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1991Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Allen-Bradley Company, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey A.
