  • Patent number: 7416739
Abstract: A composition for retaining active ingredients in personal care compositions is described based on one or more polymers having a network structure in an oil phase in amounts from 0.01 to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the composition in the oil phase, the polymers including at least one associative agent, the composition further including at least one active component. The oil phase viscosity of each composition is at least 10 poise under a shear stress up to 1000 dynes/cm2.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 25, 2002
Date of Patent: August 26, 2008
    Assignee: Rohm and Haas Company
Inventors: Steven M. Baxter, Willie Lau, Berislav Markovic, Mark E. Rerek, Curtis Schwartz, Thomas R. Tepe, Elliott Zucker

  • Patent number: 5114611
Abstract: Peroxy compound bleaching is activated by a catalytic amount of a transition metal complex of a transition metal (Mn, Co, Fe or Cu) with a non-(macro)-cyclic ligand of the formula: ##STR1## preferably 2,2'-bispyridylamine. Bleaching agent and bleach detergent compositions are also disclosed comprising a peroxy compound bleach and said transition metal complex. The transition metal complex is an effective catalyst for activating hydrogen peroxide compounds, peroxyacids and peroxyacid bleach precursors on removing a wide class of stains from substrates, especially texiles and fabrics.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4828747
Abstract: An aqueous liquid bleaching composition is described having a pH from 1 to 6.5 and comprising a solid, particulate, substantially water-insoluble organic peroxy acid such as diperoxydodecanedioic acid. This peroxy acid is stably suspended in an aqueous liquid by a structuring combination of anionic surfactant, ethoxylated nonionic surfactant, and fatty acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 25, 1988
Date of Patent: May 9, 1989
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company

  • Patent number: 4824592
Abstract: An aqueous liquid bleaching composition is described having a pH from 1 to 6.5 and comprising a solid, particulate, substantially water-insoluble organic peroxy acid such as diperoxydodecanedioic acid. This peroxy acid is stably suspended in the aqueous liquid by a structurant combination of secondary alkane sulfonate and fatty acid.

  • Patent number: 4728455
Abstract: Bleaching agent compositions and detergent bleach formulations containing them comprise effective amounts of (a) a peroxide compound having a bleaching action; and (b) a catalyst for the bleaching action of the peroxide compound, said catalyst comprising a water-soluble complex of manganese (III) with a multidentate ligand. The amount of complexing agent in the catalyst that supplies the multidentate ligand to form the complex is such that the molar ratio of complexing agent to manganese is at least about 1:1, preferably 10:1 or greater.
