Abstract: A mailer form adapted to be advanced through a folder-sealer apparatus having a first roller and a second roller, with the second roller having a number of sealing projections extending therefrom, includes a first edge portion having a first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon. The form also includes a second edge portion having a second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon. The mailer form is configured such that during advancement of the mailer form between the first roller and the second roller (i) the mailer form is folded by the first roller and the second roller such that the first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with the second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches, and (ii) both the first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and the second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with the number of sealing projections of the second roller.

Abstract: An apparatus for folding and sealing a sheet having a pressure sensitive adhesive positioned thereon includes a first roller having a number of sealing protrusions which extend therefrom. The apparatus also includes a second roller having a roller surface which is positioned in operative contact with the number of sealing protrusions of the first roller during advancement of the sheet between the first roller and the second roller. The apparatus also includes a biasing lever arm having a first end and a second end. The biasing lever arm is pivotally coupled to the frame member at a pivot location between the first end and the second end. The biasing lever arm is coupled to the first roller at a journal location between said first end of said biasing lever arm and said pivot location.

Abstract: An apparatus for folding and sealing a sheet having a pressure sensitive adhesive positioned thereon includes a first roller. The apparatus also includes a second roller which is positioned in operative contact with the first roller during advancement of the sheet between the first roller and the second roller. The apparatus also includes a third roller having (i) a roller surface, and (ii) a sealing protrusion extending from the roller surface. The apparatus further includes a sheet stop positioned to halt forward movement of the sheet during advancement of the sheet between the first roller and the second roller and subsequently create a buckle in the sheet which is advanced into a roller nip defined by the first roller and the third roller. The sealing protrusion of the third roller is positioned in operative contact with the first roller during advancement of the sheet between the first roller and the third roller.

The first ring assembly has (i) a first deformable inner ring member, and (ii) a first outer ring member secured to the periphery of the first deformable inner ring member. The roller assembly also includes a second roller having a roller surface. The first outer ring member of the first ring assembly of the first roller is positioned in operative contact with the roller surface of the second roller during advancement of the sheet between the first roller and the second roller.

Abstract: A folder-sealer apparatus for folding and sealing a number of mailer forms includes a housing. The apparatus also includes a roller assembly for folding and sealing the number of mailer forms, the roller assembly being secured within the housing. The apparatus further includes an input guide for guiding the number of mailer forms into the housing and into a nip of the roller assembly. The input guide is configured to receive a first mailer form of the number of mailer forms from an output mechanism of a printing device during a first period of time. The apparatus also includes a manual feed tray which is securable to the housing. The input guide is further configured to receive a second mailer form of the number of mailer forms from the manual feed tray when the manual feed tray is secured to the housing during a second period of time. A method of folding and sealing a number of mailer forms is also disclosed.

The method includes the step of holding both the first enclosure sheet and the second enclosure sheet stationary relative to the sealing station. The method also includes the step of securing the first enclosure sheet to the second enclosure sheet during the holding step. A document security apparatus is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of enclosing a confidential sheet in an envelope within a document security apparatus includes the step of operating a print engine so as to advance a first enclosure sheet therethrough. The method also includes the step of advancing the first enclosure sheet from an output of the print engine to a first position at a sealing station. The method further includes the step of advancing a second enclosure sheet to a second position at a sealing station. The method moreover includes the step of securing a first portion of the first enclosure sheet to a second portion of the second enclosure sheet at the sealing station so as to create the envelope having an access opening defined therein. The method also includes the step of operating the print engine so as to advance the confidential sheet therethrough.

The sealing assembly also includes a center roller having a sealing ridge attached thereto which operatively contacts the support roller so as to urge a first enclosure sheet into contact with a second enclosure sheet. The sealing assembly further includes a first edge roller which operatively contacts the support roller so as to urge the first enclosure sheet into contact with the second enclosure sheet. The center roller and the first edge roller are rotatably supported on a common axis. The center roller rotates independently of the first edge roller. A method of sealing an envelope in a document security apparatus is also disclosed.

Abstract: A sealing assembly for sealing an envelope having a first lateral side and a second lateral side includes a support roller. The envelope includes (1) a first enclosure sheet having a first pressure sensitive adhesive thereon, and (2) a second enclosure sheet having a second pressure sensitive adhesive thereon. The sealing assembly also includes a sealing member which is movable between the first lateral side and the second lateral side. The first pressure sensitive adhesive is urged into contact with the second pressure sensitive adhesive by interaction between the sealing member and the support roller when the sealing member is moved between the first lateral side and the second lateral side. A method of sealing an envelope having a first lateral side and a second lateral in a document security apparatus is also disclosed.
