  • Publication number: 20110024519
Abstract: A diffusion device includes a housing and an opening in the housing adapted for insertion of a container having an active material therein and a wick extending therefrom. The device further includes a heater disposed in a rear portion of the housing and spaced from the wick when a container is inserted into the housing. A vent is disposed in a front portion of the housing. An active material diffusion-interference member is disposed directly above and axially aligned with the wick when the container is inserted into the device, wherein the diffusion-interference member inhibits diffusion of the active material from the housing such that heat generated by the heater is trapped around the wick, thus increasing volatilization and dispersion of the active material from the diffusion device as compared to a diffusion device that does not have a diffusion-interference member.

  • Patent number: 7643734
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward apparatuses, devices, methods, kits, programs, and combinations to eject a bottle or container from a compartment. For example, in one embodiment of the present invention an ejector is provided that cantilevers over the bottle and is configured to eject the bottle from the container when sufficient force is applied to the ejector. In other embodiments, an ejection mechanism is disposed on a housing assembly of a device at a position to eject the container from the compartment, wherein the ejection mechanism is disposed in a non-retaining relationship with the container. The ejector mechanisms of the present invention can be used with a variety of devices, including, for example, a diffuser used to disperse an active material and/or generate an aesthetic lighting display, such as multicolored displays, color-changing displays, projection displays, shine-through displays, or the like. The diffusers may also provide control over varying emission of light and/or fragrance.

  • Patent number: RE38150
Abstract: A child-resistant, wick-based liquid emanation system includes a container which is capable of containing liquid and has an opening. A wick is partially disposed within the container and extends through the opening of the container. A hollow overcap encases the extended portion of the wick and has a closed, separable tip and an open base attached to cover the opening of the container. The system is activated by separating the tip from the overcap. A retainer may be provided for obstructing complete removal of the wick from the container through the overcap after the tip is separated from the overcap. The retainer can include a shoulder disposed in the overcap between the tip and the base to retain the wick toward the base of the overcap. Alternatively, a protrusion from the wick can engage an inner surface of the overcap or the container. In this case, the overcap can have a frangible portion facilitating separation of the tip, and the wick can extend past the frangible portion toward the tip.
