  • Publication number: 20130145595
Abstract: Method of inhibiting cracking of steel strip in continuous casting of thin strip with the steps of: assembling a pair of counter-rotating casting rolls each with circumferential casting surfaces positioned laterally to form a nip therebetween to cast metal strip downwardly from the nip where each casting roll has lateral coolant passages positioned circumferentially spaced inwardly adjacent the casting surface of the roll, providing a source of coolant to be delivered to a temperature regulator regulating the temperature of the coolant delivered to the coolant passages to between 85° F. and 110° F., assembling a metal delivery system above the casting rolls to deliver molten metal forming a casting pool supported on the casting surfaces of the casting rolls above the nip, and counter-rotating the casting rolls such that the casting surfaces of the casting rolls each travel inwardly toward the nip to produce a cast strip downwardly from the nip.

  • Patent number: 8122937
Abstract: A method of forming a textured casting roll may include a step of forming a plurality of contiguous rows of gravure cells on the surface of a casting roll, removing portions of the cells to leave raised portions corresponding to raised portions of the gravure cells not removed. The gravure cells may be formed by diamond engraving, and the step of removing portions of the gravure cells may be accomplished by engraving or etching.

  • Patent number: 7354316
Abstract: A patch panel that provides a more flexible test bed for copper based broadband services using male or female pin-type connectors (commonly referred to as “telco” or “champ” connectors) that meets ANSI/T1A/E1A-568-B.2 standards is disclosed. The connectors, depending upon whether they are male or female, have a pin or receptacle, respectively, for each conductor that comprises the pairs of a Cat5e compliant cable assembly. The patch panel provides a “cleaner” installation in systems requiring Cat5e compliance as cables are routed to a centralized point (the patch panel) for distribution to and from communications devices and network elements.

  • Patent number: 7176398
Abstract: A transient suppression device for limiting to desirable levels current and energy entering a fuel tank of an aircraft over interface wiring that penetrates a wall of the fuel tank comprises: an elongated, hollow, conductive housing capped at one end and open at another end, the housing being disposed external and in proximity to the fuel tank, and supported physically from a structure of the aircraft; a transient suppression circuit disposed within the housing and connected in series with the interface wiring; and a shield braid of conductive material disposed over the open end of the housing and covering the interface wiring over the distance between the housing and tank wall, the shield braid electrically coupling the housing to the tank wall. A method of packaging the transient suppression device is also disclosed.
