  • Patent number: 8428899
Abstract: Apparatus for testing a conducted energy weapon includes analyzer to produce characteristic signals representative of characteristics of electrical current pulses delivered by the weapon into a resistive load when the weapon is discharged. Risk estimation device responsive to the characteristic signals produces a risk estimate representative of a risk of injury to a targeted subject due to electrical stimulation, or alternatively representative of a risk of failure to incapacitate the targeted subject. Indicator device responsive to the risk estimate indicates the risk of injury, or alternatively the risk of failure to incapacitate, and warns the user of the apparatus when the risk exceeds a predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20120174287
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to protective headgear worn by a user to protect his eyes, head, and face. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a protective headgear assembly used by welders and the like wherein a headgear strap can be tightened or loosened upon the ratcheting of a knob connected to the headgear strap. The headgear strap can also be automatically disengaged for removal of the headgear by pulling the knob away from the user's head.

  • Patent number: 7052472
Abstract: A system for detecting symptoms of hypoglycemia in a diabetic individual. The system comprises a temperature sensing system, a conductance sensing system, a trending system, a threshold system, and an alarm system. The temperature sensing system produces a temperature signal representative of a skin temperature of the diabetic individual. The conductance sensing system produces a conductance signal representative of a level of perspiration of the diabetic individual. The trending system produces a slope estimate representative of a rate of change of the skin temperature over a predetermined interval in response to the temperature signal. The threshold system produces a slope threshold representative of a hypoglycemic decline in skin temperature observed over the predetermined interval in response to the conductance signal and to the temperature signal. The alarm system produces an indication of the presence of hypoglycemic symptoms in response to the slope estimate and the slope threshold.

  • Patent number: 5784151
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for testing a pulsed light oximeter, such as a non-invasive oximeter which emits pulses of red and infrared light. A light sensor produces an electrical pulse signal representative of light flashes emitted by the oximeter, and a signal generator produces a plurality of absorbance signals representative of the optical absorbance of an anatomical part at the wavelength of each light flash. A signal selector responds to time interval, duration and amplitude features of the electrical pulse signal, or to electrical signals produced by the oximeter itself, and thereby selects one of the plurality of absorbance signals to produce a selected absorbance signal. The selected absorbance signal is converted to light and conveyed to the oximeter to simulate the effect of the anatomical part on the light flashes emitted by the oximeter.
