  • Patent number: 11393191
Abstract: A system and method for obtaining target views of a vehicle is disclosed. A seller of a vehicle may seek to obtain one or more target views of the vehicle. To obtain the target views, the user may use a smartphone with an app that accesses the video stream while the user walks around or inside the vehicle. When the app identifies a frame in the video stream as one of the target views sought, the app tags the frame as an image of one of the target views. Further, the user may provide additional input, such as voice input (as part of the video stream) or manual taps on the touchscreen of the smartphone. The additional input may be used for damage assessment or sentiment analysis of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10878050
Abstract: A mobile device application is provided with a dynamic interface for capturing vehicle data. Using a captured VIN number, decoded particulars of the vehicle can be retrieved, together with other particulars from third party databases. Fields of a data capture form are pre-populated with this retrieved data as well as user input in text and multimedia formats. The unfilled fields are presented to the user through an interface in a staged format, showing only relevant unfilled fields. This is reconfigured dynamically (to show more or less fields) as the data is entered/retrieved. The application may use distinct text entry and multimedia entry modes, which may be guided (e.g. with visual cues for photo/video capture). A related method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 10832314
Abstract: Using an average historical price for vehicles of similar parameters, a method is provided that allows sellers and a best bidder, following an inconclusive auction for a vehicle, to negotiate with confidence a closing price for a sale of the vehicle. The method and system provides the ability for the best bidder (or a second-best bidder) to enter a new bid, and for the seller to accept a previous bid or the new bid, if any, in light of the average historical price, without reopening the auction broadly to other bidders. A post-auction negotiation engine is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20190378180
Abstract: A system and method for generating an using vehicle price estimation models is disclosed. The price estimation models may be segmented in several ways including based on: (1) make/model; (2) make/model and another feature (such as trim); or (3) clustering of data. For example, a baseline model (to make/model or make/model/trim) may be generated using historical pricing data. Further, the historical pricing data may be clustered in order to generate multiple price bins. Additional models may be generated to the multiple price bins. In practice, an initial price estimate for the vehicle may be generated using the baseline model. Thereafter, using the initial price estimate, one of the price bin models (whose price bin includes the initial price estimate) may be used to generate a price bin estimate. The initial price estimate and/or the price in estimate may then be used for the auction (such as a guaranteed auction price).

  • Publication number: 20160012522
Abstract: Following an online auction of a vehicle, a buyer can file a report of a disputed feature. This report includes a descriptive component and a photo or video component. The buyer also submits a desired compensation for the disputed feature. An automatic settlement is arrived at based on a selection and calculation from one of: the buyer's desired compensation, a difference between the assessed value of the vehicle and the price paid, and an estimate to repair or replace the disputed feature. Automatic funds settlement may follow the buyer's acceptance of the automatic settlement.

  • Publication number: 20150348142
Abstract: A method is provided for a computer-mediated value assessment of a vehicle offered for sale by a seller. A computing device retrieves a universe of historical pricing data of vehicles having at least one parameter in common with the vehicle. From this universe of historical pricing data of vehicles having the same or similar at least one parameter, a maximum potential wholesale value is established. Using the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle, data is retrieved regarding the vehicle and its condition. This data is converted into at least one quantitative modifier, and at least one qualitative modifier. The maximum potential wholesale value is then reduced by the at least one quantitative modifier and the at least one qualitative modifier to arrive at an assessed value of the vehicle. This assessed value can then be communicated to a person requesting an assessment prior to a sale of the vehicle.
