  • Publication number: 20070010541
Abstract: The invention includes methods of treating or preventing vascular disease or promoting vascular growth or development. The methods can be used in the treatment of diseases associated with ischemia, such as heart attack and stroke.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 30, 2004

  • Publication number: 20060073138
Abstract: The invention provides a novel gene, gridlock, and its encoded protein. gridlock plays a role in vascular development and modeling, and a mutation in gridlock has been associated with an aortic arch disease, coarctation. Thus, gridlock nucleic acid molecules and polypeptides can be used in methods of diagnosing, treating, and preventing gridlock-related diseases and conditions, such as aortic arch diseases.

    Inventors: Mark Fishman, Tao Zhong
  • Publication number: 20050260179
Abstract: A method for capturing stem cells and/or progenitor cells from circulating body fluids such as blood or lymph in vivo and enabling the cells to colonize a specific, localized site for purposes of tissue regeneration or repair, has been developed. The method consists of selecting a site in need of repair or regeneration. Materials which can be used to provide the growth factors or ligands include polymeric matrices having the growth factor or ligands attached thereto, materials releasing growth factor or ligands (such as hydrogels, polymers, fibrin clots), and cells which release or have bound to their surfaces the growth factors or ligands.

  • Patent number: 5704382
Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling the flow of a liquid from a supply pipe to a receiving device, to assure that only a preselected liquid is permitted to flow to the receiving device, by: feeding a sample quantity of the liquid from the supply pipe to a sampling receptacle while a main valve between the supply pipe and receiving device is closed; testing the liquid within the sampling receptacle by immersing a stirring device therein, rotating the stirring device by an electrical motor, measuring the load current of the electrical motor, and comparing the measured load current with a reference load current for the preselected liquid; and opening the main valve to permit the flow of the liquid from the supply pipe to the receiving device when the test results show a match of the measured load current with the reference value for the preselected liquid.
