  • Patent number: 7673678
Abstract: A system for use in a well includes plural flow control devices to control fluid flow in respective zones of the well, where each of at least some of the flow control devices includes a membrane having a permeable material to provide a flow restriction. The membranes of the at least some flow control devices have different permeabilities to provide corresponding different flow restrictions.

  • Publication number: 20090000787
Abstract: An inflow control device is disclosed for use in controlling the flow of fluid into a production tubing in a subterranean wellbore. The device is especially adapted for use with sand screen apparatus, but is modular in that it is manufactured separately from the sand screen apparatus. An inflow control device according to the present invention contains an orifice having an opening which is adjustable in size and which is disposed in the device to permit communication of fluid from one end of the body to the other. An inflow control device according to the present invention may be utilized with multiple sand screen assemblies.

  • Publication number: 20050045343
Abstract: A method of suspending an electric submergible pumping system within a wellbore includes inserting an electric cable within a conduit, such as coiled tubing, before the conduit is deployed downhole. The electric cable is inserted into the conduit at the surface and is permitted to buckle in a manner so that the electric cable buckles and uniformly contacts an interior surface of the conduit at a plurality of locations along the entire length of coiled tubing to prevent longitudinal movement of the electric cable within the conduit. An electric submergible pumping system is then connected to the conduit, and the electric cable is connected to an electric motor of the electric submergible pumping system. The electric submergible pumping system and the conduit are inserted into the wellbore.
