  • Patent number: 10390059
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing user defined content transmissions are disclosed. An example method can comprise receiving a request for first content and receiving a first preference. First content can be retrieved from a first source based on the request for first content. Second content can be retrieved from a second source based on the first preference. The first content and second content can be packaged for transmission in response to receiving the request and the first preference.

  • Publication number: 20190014584
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing data are disclosed. An optimal set of subcarriers can be determined for a data transmission when a plurality of devices have requested the data transmission. The optimal set of subcarriers can be determined based on similarities or differences between parameters assigned to subcarriers in capability profiles. Capacity loss and other information can be determined based on the similarities or the differences among corresponding parameters of the capability profiles. The data transmission can be transmitted to the plurality of devices via the optimal set of subcarriers.

  • Publication number: 20180278279
Abstract: Methods and systems for interference management are described. Methods and systems can be used for minimizing interference among communication and/or electronic devices. Interference data can be gathered/received from interference sources such as weather and natural patterns, various electronic devices, and one or more network protocols. The interference data can be used to generate interference patterns of each interference source in an interference map. The interference map can be used to determine how a particular interference pattern can affect a system. The interference map can also be used to evaluate a new source of interference (e.g., cordless phones, weather conditions) to determine how a system can be affected. The interference data can also be associated with an interference signature (e.g., an interference pattern, a fingerprint) for an interference source in a database. The database can be used based on the interference signature to identify known and/or unknown interference sources.

  • Patent number: 9986062
Abstract: A gateway device configured to receive IP video content may select and use transmission methods that maintain a certain quality of service for delivering the content. A transmission method may be selected based on a network to which the client device is connected. The gateway device may select a network through which the content is to be delivered depending on a variety of factors including bandwidth availability, client compatibility, quality of service provided and the like. A gateway device may further be configured to convert multicast transmissions to unicast, to provide dynamic storage of content for pre-positioning and other purposes and/or to provide other functions.

  • Patent number: 9936261
Abstract: Multiple devices in a user's premises may each be configured to separately communicate with an external network, but the signal strength available to each may vary significantly depending on the wiring of the premises. The disclosure provides methods wherein the various devices may coordinate with one another, and determine which among them has the best signal connection and the most available capacity, and a subset of the devices may be chosen to act as network proxies to relay communications to/from the other devices in the premises.

  • Patent number: 9854297
Abstract: A system is described in which, in some embodiments, a centralized service entry device may be used to coordinate communications going into and out of a home or premises. The service entry device may be physically connected to a plurality of external access networks, such as a cable television coaxial or fiber connection and a twisted-pair wire connection, and may coordinate access to those networks by a plurality of in-home devices. Within the home, the system may include a plurality of client devices to assist in the coordination of communications with devices in different rooms within the home.

  • Publication number: 20170200471
Abstract: Features described herein relate to providing the capability to playback audiovisual content in a comprehensible manner at a rate adjustable by the viewer. For example, if a viewer wishes to watch a one hour news program, but the viewer only has thirty minutes to view the program, playback of the program at twice the rate, but in a comprehensible manner is provided. To provide the playback of the video at the adjustable rate, substitute audio is generated by adding or removing audio content without changing the playback rate of the audio. The video at the adjusted playback rate and the substitute audio at the normal playback rate may have the same duration and in some embodiments, may be presented synchronously.

  • Publication number: 20170063705
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for managing information transmitted between and/or within communication networks. Aspects discussed herein relate to monitoring and characterizing data flows with network and/or latency parameters, such as a time-to-buffer (TTB) parameter. Latency managers, network components, or other suitable devices operating in a communication network may utilize TTB parameter information as a management mechanism throughout the communication network to negotiate and schedule the delivery of data packets in view of a variety of factors, e.g., network performance, application priority, and the like. Such devices may be further configured to modify network or routing policies based on network performance and latency information obtained from and/or shared by various network components and devices in the communication network.
