  • Patent number: 10307728
Abstract: A sorbent composition with improved acid gas reactivity comprising calcium hydroxide particles is provided. In the calcium hydroxide composition, about 90% percent of the calcium hydroxide particles are less than or equal to about 10 microns; the ratio of 90% of the calcium hydroxide particles below a specified size to the ratio of 10% of the calcium hydroxide particles above a specified size is less than about 8; and the calcium hydroxide particles have a BET surface area of about 18 m2/g or greater.

  • Patent number: 6451281
Abstract: A method of manufacturing micro-particulated hydrated lime slurries includes the steps of blending hydrated lime and water to form a mixture, mixing the hydrated lime and water mixture under high shear to form a slurry, transferring the hydrated lime and water slurry to a storage container, and adjusting the percent weight solids of the hydrated lime and water slurry to a predetermined weight solids content. Mixing the hydrated lime and water mixture under high shear can include mixing with a high shear disperser and/or with a high shear rotor/stator mixer. The resultant slurry includes hydrated lime particles with a median particle size of about 6 micrometers or less.

  • Patent number: 6200543
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for reducing CO2 content of an air stream are described. A method of reducing CO2 content of an air stream in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of first injecting hydrated lime into an air stream containing CO2. The hydrated lime reacts with the CO2 in the air stream to form calcium carbonate, CaCO3. The air stream is then directed into a lime storage container having a dust collector. As air is drawn through the dust collector, hydrated lime and CaCO3 are collected on the filter bags. The air drawn through the dust collector has a reduced CO2 content as compared to the air prior to being injected with hydrated lime. The reduced CO2 content air stream exhausted from the dust collector can then be directed to the different parts of the hydrated lime manufacturing process, such as the milling process, conveying and storing the hydrated lime.

  • Patent number: 5678959
Abstract: An improved pneumatic lime dispensing and conveying system of the type comprising a lime storage container having a dust collector communicating with the storage container for removing dust from the air inside the container and venting the filtered air from the storage container, and a pneumatic conveying system having an air inlet for pneumatically conveying lime dispensed from the storage container through a conveying line. The outlet vent of the dust collector is connected to the air inlet of the pneumatic conveying system to reduce CO.sub.2 content of the air, and thereby inhibit scale formation in conveying line. The method of this invention comprises the step of pretreating the air used in the conveying system by exposing it to lime dust to reduce the CO.sub.2 content of the air. This is conveniently carried out by drawing the air through a dust filter connected to the lime storage container.
