Patent number: 10676947Abstract: A valve assembly for regulating water level in a swimming pool includes a first butterfly valve in a pool drain line of the pool and a second butterfly valve in a fresh water line. The drain line and the fresh water line supply water to a pit remote from the pool. A return water line directs water from the pit to the pool. A float in the pit is operatively connected to both butterfly valves via first and second pivotal arms which are rotated by a sliding frame when the buoyant float rises and falls, so as to close and open the butterfly valves, and thereby maintain a desired water depth or level in the pit, and thereby a more consistent water level in the pool.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2018Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: Sentry Valve Company, Inc.Inventor: Mark G. Patent number: 8881719Abstract: In an improved swimming pool water heating system, water in the pool circulates through a first loop from the pool to a surge pit and through a filter before returning to the pool. The heating system includes a second loop with a heat exchanger and a remote water heater. The pool water is heated by the heat exchanger. The first and second circulation loops are separate from one another. The heater may include multiple heating units which can be staged for sequential actuation. The second circulation loop is closed, such that the pool water does not flow through the heater, but rather is indirectly heated via the heat exchanger. The heater is isolated from the pool water. The heating units are vented to atmosphere so as to be non-pressurized.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2012Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Sentry Valve Company, Inc.Inventor: Mark G. Pleva

The second circulation loop is closed, such that the pool water does not flow through the heater, but rather is indirectly heated via the heat exchanger. The heater is isolated from the pool water.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2004Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Sentry Valve Co., Inc.Inventor: Mark G. Pleva

Patent number: 6080324Abstract: An improved filtering device for a swimming pool surge pit is provided. The filtering device includes a frame with first and second filter elements removably mounted in the frame such that water flows through both elements to remove debris before the water enters a water supply line leading to the main filtration system of the pool. The filter elements slide along guide tracks in the frame and are independently removable such that one filter element is always in place. Thus, the water in the surge pit is filtered 100% of the time before passage into the water supply line. The filter elements extend above the water level in the surge pit such that both floating and submerged debris are captured by the filter elements.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1999Date of Patent: June 27, 2000Assignee: Sentry Valve Co., Inc.Inventor: Mark G. Patent number: 5367723Abstract: A valve apparatus is provided for regulating the water level in a swimming pool. The apparatus is mounted in a surge pit remote from the pool. The apparatus includes first and second valves movable between open and closed positions for controlling the introduction of water into the surge pit from the main drain line and from a fresh water supply line, respectively. The first and second valves are operatively interconnected and are moved between their open and closed positions by a float member in the surge pit. As the water level in the pool drops below an ideal level wherein a thin layer of water skims over the lip of the gutter system, less water is provided to the surge pit from the gutter drain line, such that the water level in the pit drops, and causing the float member to drop so as to open the first and second valves to allow more water into the surge pit from the main drain line of the pool and from the fresh water supply line.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1993Date of Patent: November 29, 1994Assignee: Pleva Plumbing & Heating, Inc.Inventors: John Pleva, Mark G.
