    Abstract: An improved foot valve assembly for use with a water intake includes a bucket with an internal conduit having a connector for attachment to a water pump intake pipe at the base of the bucket. Ballast weight added to the bottom of the bucket provides stability. The intake of water occurs at the upper end of the internal conduit, through a vertically supported foot valve. A basket-fitted over the foot valve may support a fabric bag-filter.
