  • Patent number: 10071888
Abstract: Systems and methods for preventing improper lifting of tubular members are described, in which sensing devices are used to detect when a tubular reaches a selected position within a lifting device suitable for engagement, and/or to detect when a lifting operation is initiated that would exceed the capacity of a lifting device. Operators are engaged with the tubular member and provided with a preselected force corresponding to the weight of one or more tubular members, such that when the weight of a lifting operation exceeds the preselected force, an audible device may be actuated responsive to sensor output, to immediately alert individuals, such that the improper lifting operation may be halted. Similarly, an audible device may be actuated responsive to sensor output when a tubular member reaches a selected position within the lifting device, such that additional movement may be ceased.

  • Publication number: 20100086388
Abstract: A system for oilfield service equipment transportation and placement comprises a street-legal truck having a tool skid handling system and a tool skid. The tool skid may be offloaded from, and loaded onto, the truck, by means of the tool skid handling system, while requiring only a single person to carry out the loading or offloading. Preferably, the tool skid holds all specialized service equipment for carrying out a particular job at a wellsite, for example running a string of casing or other threaded connection tubulars. The tool skid handling system has a hydraulically powered arm with a hook on the end, and enables one person (namely, the driver of the truck) to load and offload the fully loaded tool skid with no additional assistance. Exemplary methods for using the system are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080001534
Abstract: Provided are methods for preparing a compound of Formula I: where the method comprises the steps of: contacting a compound of Formula II: with 1,3,5-benzene-tricarbonyl chloride in the presence of a polar aprotic solvent to form an amide adduct; and subsequently condensing the amide with a proximate anilino group present in the adduct in the presence of a condensing agent to form a compound of Formula I wherein R1, R2, Ar, m, p, and t are as defined in the specification.

  • Publication number: 20060249292
Abstract: An automated tubular running tool for use in drilling systems and the like allows for the picking up, positioning, stabbing and threadedly connecting a tubular segment to a tubular string being held by the rig by a spider. The tool comprises a pivoting arm, which can pickup, position, stab and threadedly connect the tubular segment. The tool further features an integral elevator, which then lowers the piping string tubing string into the well bore. This tubular running tool allows for the connection of tubular segments to a tubular string without the need of personnel.

  • Publication number: 20060045653
Abstract: A pick-up and lay-down pipe handling system and method providing a telescopingly extendable crane boom which transports tubulars and pipes both linearly and vertically. The crane boom is preferably pivotally moveable with respect to its base and the crane may be able to rotate with a 360 degree range of rotational movement with respect to the base. The crane boom employs a cable or plurality of cables that run between at least two winches at the base of the crane boom. The cables are run through two pulleys or carriages attached to a hollowed out half pipe section into which the tubulars or pipes are placed. The winches are then activated to move the hollowed out half pipe both vertically and linearly to the desired position.
