  • Publication number: 20220335922
Abstract: An audio enhanced hearing protection system to be worn by a user includes an ambient noise reduction assembly having a primary noise reduction unit and a secondary noise reduction unit. The audio enhanced hearing protection system also includes an audio input assembly having one or more environmental microphones to receive raw environmental audio signals. The raw audio signals are transformed into processed audio signals via a digital signal processing assembly prior to transmission to a user. The audio enhanced hearing protection system also includes an audio output assembly having at least one speaker to transmit processed audio signals to a user.

  • Patent number: 11202161
Abstract: The present invention provides for an apparatus, system, and method for generating a head related audio transfer function in real time. Specifically, the present invention utilizes unique structural components including a tragus structure and an antihelix structure in connection with a microphone in order to communicate the location of a sound in three-dimensional space to a user. The invention also utilizes an audio processor to digitally process the head related audio transfer function.

  • Publication number: 20150038347
Abstract: Rapid surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) assays for ultratrace pathogen detection are provided. One-particle and two-particle sensor assays (e.g., biosensor assays) are provided. In one implementation, for example, an assay forms and concentrates a DNA hybridization complex incorporating paramagnetic particles and Raman active noble metal (e.g., gold, silver and/or copper) nanoparticles (two-particle sensor) or noble metal coated paramagnetic particles that provide both a SERS substrate and magnetic capture ability in a single sensor particle via a noble metal-coated paramagnetic particle, such as a gold-coated paramagnetic particle (one-particle sensor).

  • Patent number: 8353838
Abstract: An ultrasound probe includes a transducer which is pivotally mounted inside a fluid chamber for scanning a region outside the probe as the transducer is oscillated. A volume compensation balloon is attached to the fluid chamber and is partially filled with acoustic fluid at nominal (room) temperatures. The balloon is made of a high performance thermoplastic which enables the balloon to have a very thin wall. The thin wall is highly compliant as the volume of the fluid inside the balloon changes, and remains so at low temperatures of transport and use. The thin wall exhibits a low permeability to the acoustic fluid. The balloon is formed of a non elastic material and exhibits good thermal stability and high burst strength.
