  • Publication number: 20200030107
Abstract: A total knee implant prosthesis is disclosed. The total knee implant prosthesis includes a tibial component including a pair of bearing surfaces and a post positioned between the bearing surfaces, and a femoral component configured to rotate relative to the tibial component. The femoral component includes a pair of condyles sized and shaped to articulate on the bearing surfaces and a cam positioned between the pair of condyles. The cam engages the post at a first contact point when the femoral component is at 0 degrees of flexion and engages the post at a second contact point located lateral of the first contact point when the femoral component is at a first degree of flexion greater than 0 degrees. • Publication number: 20170265944
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for planning and/or carrying out a total knee replacement surgical procedure on a knee of a leg of a patient are described. Anatomical data for the leg of the patient is obtained, which allows the femoral mechanical axis, the tibial mechanical axis and the joint line of the knee to be determined. A planned proximal tibial cut angle and a planned distal femoral cut angle are determined. A total knee replacement procedure is carried out on the knee of the patient, wherein a distal femoral cut is made using the planned distal femoral cut angle and a proximal tibial cut is made using the planned proximal tibial cut angle.

  • Patent number: 9314351
Abstract: A femoral sizing instrument for use in a knee joint replacement procedure has a housing which includes formations by which it can be located relative to the femoral posterior condyles. A cortex arm has a tip for engaging the anterior cortex of the femur and a sulcus arm has a tip for engaging the sulcus. Each of the cortex and sulcus arms can be adjusted relative to the housing to adjust the distance between its tip and the posterior condyles measured generally parallel to the anterior posterior axis. The instrument includes at least one scale for indicating the positions of the tips of the cortex and sulcus arms relative to the posterior condyles.

  • Patent number: 8857440
Abstract: A tissue protector is adapted to be positioned on the skin surrounding an incision. The tissue protector provides a load bearing surface for surgical tools and instruments to prevent blunt force and pressure trauma to the skin and soft tissues within the incision. In one embodiment, the tissue protector is a sheet of wear-resistant material having an opening corresponding to the incision and expandable as the incision is retracted. In another embodiment, a tissue protector device includes a continuous expandable arrangement of interconnected L-shaped links. In still another embodiment, a one-piece tissue protector includes a flexible panel supported on the skin and a flexible sleeve extending into the incision. Yet another embodiment of the invention resides in a track that is supported about the incision. An instrument support platform is slidably mounted to the track to support a surgical tool relative to the incision.
