    Abstract: A pool cover for temperature regulation of pool water having an upper sheet of flexible material and a lower sheet of flexible material. The sheets are joined together at their side edges and along a plurality of longitudinally seams to form a panel having a plurality of longitudinal seams to provide a plurality of flow channels. A pump attached to an input tube draws in water from the pool, and via an input manifold forces the pumped water through the flow channels in the panel, and out the ends of the flow channels back into the pool. Pool water pumped through the flow channels picks up heat from incident solar radiation and the ambient air temperature, or gives off heat to the ambient environment, depending on the temperature of the air, the amount of incident radiation, and the temperature control settings provided by the user.

    Abstract: An embodiment provides a shift inhibitor apparatus for a multiple speed transmission main section. The transmission includes an input shaft and an output shaft The transmission main section has a plurality of selectively engageable ratios. The transmission also has a range section shiftable between a range high ratio and a range low ratio. The shift inhibitor includes an interlock moveable between a locked condition and a released condition, wherein the interlock selectively prevents a gear shift in the transmission main section. The shift inhibitor also includes a range sensor valve. The range sensor valve selectively detects a range shift of the range section. The range sensor valve selectively causes the interlock to be positioned in the released condition upon detection of a completed range shift. The interlock is selectively positioned by a fluid.

An electrically responsive locking mechanism locks neutral piston assembly in place when range piston assembly is in the neutral position.     Abstract: A method for forming a transmission synchronizer friction surface includes the steps of forming a woven substrate fabric, oxidizing the substrate fabric, carbonizing the substrate fabric, densifying the carbonized substrate fabric, burnishing the densified carbonized substrate fabric, applying a thermoset adhesive to the burnished substrate fabric, and heating and pressing the piece of fabric against a conical surface of a synchronizer element. To form the fabric, yarn is formed of chopped substrate fibers, and the yarn is woven to form the woven substrate fabric. Densification is increased by extending a period of time of chemical vapor deposition to achieve a weight in an unburnished condition of at least 16 ounces per square yard for a thickness range of approximately 40 to 50 mils. Both sides of the substrate fabric are burnished. The material is pressed against the conical surface under a high pressure of at least 2000 psi to achieve the desired bonding of the substrate fabric to the conical surface.

    Abstract: A bias mechanism includes a plunger secured within a bore extending in a generally tangential direction through a shift fork hub and intersecting a transverse aperture for mounting the hub on a shift shaft, the plunger having a portion protruding through the bore to selectively contact either the shift shaft or a shifting key or pin during rotation of the shift shaft, and a spring to provide resistance to movement of the plunger within the bore thereby causing rotational resistance to the shift shaft while eliminating axial resistance or drag during translation of the shift shaft. In one embodiment, the plunger contacts a shifting element fixed to the shift shaft, such as a shifting key or pin. In another embodiment, the plunger contacts the shift shaft directly but only during selection of the biased shift yoke for translation to engage a particular gear.

The shift rail has a transverse bore extending at least partially into the shift rail. The shift fork has an axial bore receiving the shift rail therethrough, and a transverse mount hole intersecting the axial bore. The pin extends through the mount hole and at least partially into the transverse bore. The pin is sized for clearance relative to the mount hole and the transverse bore to facilitate assembly.
