Publication number: 20070250183Abstract: A system and method for reintegration of a redundant controller after occurrence of a fault is provided, comprising synchronizing outputs of a primary controller with outputs of secondary controllers. The controller is placed in a different mode of operation in which its output is not used in system control. A meta-controller is activated to drive the primary controller to the same states at which the secondary or redundant controllers operate. A voting mechanism is used to determine a fault in an output to a controlled device. Control of the device using the secondary outputs is effected. The primary controller recalculates the primary output, based upon the primary output; a feedback signal; and, the secondary outputs. Control using the primary output is permitted when the primary output is within an allowable range of the secondary outputs.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2006Publication date: October 25, 2007Inventors: Mark Howell, Pradyumna Mishra

Publication number: 20070065514Abstract: The present invention provides a method for enhancing an immune response in a mammal to facilitate the elimination of a chronic pathology. The method involves the removal of immune system inhibitors such as soluble TNF receptor from the circulation of the mammal, thus, enabling a more vigorous immune response to the pathogenic agent. The removal of immune system inhibitors is accomplished by contacting biological fluids of a mammal with one or more binding partner(s) such as TNF? muteins capable of binding to and, thus, depleting the targeted immune system inhibitor(s) from the biological fluids. Particularly useful in the invention is an absorbent matrix composed of an inert, biocompatible substrate joined covalently to a binding partner, such as a TNF? mutein, capable of specifically binding to a targeted immune system inhibitor such as soluble TNF receptor.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2005Publication date: March 22, 2007Inventor: Mark Howell

Publication number: 20070067078Abstract: A system and related method for monitoring the state of health of sensors in an integrated vehicle stability control system. In one embodiment, the system determines whether a yaw rate sensor, a lateral acceleration sensor or a hand-wheel angle sensor has failed. The system uses a plurality of models to generate estimates of the outputs of the sensors based on the actual sensor measurements. Residuals are generated as the difference between the measured value and each of the estimates for the particular sensor. The residuals are compared to a threshold to determine whether a fault flag will be set for each residual. The threshold for the hand-wheel angle sensor is an adaptive threshold because it does not have physical redundancy. If the fault flags for the residuals for each sensor have a particular pattern, then a fault is output for that sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2005Publication date: March 22, 2007Inventors: Mutasim Salman, Mark Howell

Preferably, the plurality of electronic input devices comprise any two or more of a scroll wheel, a mouse, a joy stick, a steering wheel, an analog button, and a touch bar. Also in a preferred embodiment, the interface is an Application Programming Interface (API) and the emulator comprises a finger swipe sensor for receiving user input.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2005Publication date: March 15, 2007Inventors: Anthony Russo, Frank Chen, Mark Howell, Hung Ngo, Marcia Tsuchiya, David Weigand
