Publication number: 20200007645Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing a request for profile data. During operation, the system obtains, from the request, an identifier for a member in a user community and a first non-global scope. Next, the system matches the identifier to a central profile record and locates a scoped profile record for the member. If the request is a read request, the system retrieves a first field from the scoped profile record and a second field from the central profile record and transmits the first and second fields in a response to the request without including, in the response, additional fields that are outside of the first non-global scope or the global scope. If the request is a write request, the system stores an update to the first field in the scoped profile record without modifying the first field in profile records that are outside of the first non-global scope.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2018Publication date: January 2, 2020Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Dianxia Yang, Mark I. Sandori, Albert M. Ho, Mohan Krishnan, Viktar Starynski

Publication number: 20180137291Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for managing access to a remote storage system. During operation, the system receives a first request from a user to write a file to a remote storage system. Next, the system receives a first encrypted version of the file from a client associated with the first request. The system then decrypts the first encrypted version to obtain an unencrypted version of the file and uses the unencrypted version to generate a second encrypted version of the file. Finally, the system writes the second encrypted version to a file store and stores metadata for the file in a virtual filesystem that is physically separate from the file store.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2016Publication date: May 17, 2018Applicant: LinkedIn CorporationInventors: Albert M. Ho, Qi Liu, Mark I. Sandori

Patent number: 8676665Abstract: A universal shopping cart is provided that obtains and orders products and services from different merchants located on the Internet. The consumer completes all of their shopping on the shopping site and is not directed to another merchant's site to complete an order. The universal shopping cart provides a monitoring service that allows the consumer to monitor a product for specified criteria. The order injection system places orders for products contained within the universal shopping cart from affiliated and non-affiliated merchants. Specific ordering details required from merchants external to the shopping site are hidden from the consumer. For external merchant sites that require a consumer account before allowing the product to be purchased, the shopping site creates a new consumer account without intervention from the consumer. Once the products are ordered, the consumer may keep track of the ordered products from the shopping site.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2011Date of Patent: March 18, 2014Assignee: Zanni Assets Limited Liability CompanyInventors: Martin K.
