Abstract: Remote triggering of a communication through a computing device is discussed herein. In the context of home security devices or a personal emergency response system (PERS) (e.g., a local device), a local device can provide an alert to a user equipment (e.g., a remote device). The remote device can respond to the alert by instructing the local device to initiate a communication between the local device, the remote device, and a network device (e.g., implemented as a public-safety answering point (PSAP)), wherein a location associated with the network device is based at least in part on a location of the local device. The alerts and communications can be directed or routed by a computing device (e.g., implemented as a communication server). A communication identifier can be associated with the local device and the remote device to allow for a communication to be reestablished in the event of an interruption.
