Patent number: 9802723Abstract: A corner post application system comprises a conveyor subsystem and an enveloping machine adapted to envelope the plurality of units with a material. The system further includes a swing arm, an applicator arm coupled to the swing arm and adapted to move linearly, a corner post gripper coupled to the applicator arm, and a controller. The controller rotates the swing arm about a vertical axis until a corner post held by the corner post gripper is aligned with adjacent sides that define a corner of the load. The controller thereafter stops rotation of the swing arm and moves the applicator arm linearly toward the corner of the load until the corner post held by the corner post gripper contacts the adjacent sides of the load. A sensor may be included for detecting a corner of the load, with the controller aligning the corner post based on detection by the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2015Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: Mollers North America, Inc.Inventors: Bruce W. Brunson, Jason A. Brake, Peter C. Martin, Jonathan Vansweden, Thomas E. Wagner, Mark J. Clark

Patent number: 7779738Abstract: A punch arrangement for punching holes in a moving web of a plastic film has a pivoted yoke mounted on a fixed bracket above the plastic film. An air cylinder or other actuator is mounted on the yoke and has a cutting head mounted on the rod of the cylinder. The cutting head is in registered alignment with an aperture on a support plate below the film. The film engages and swings the cutting head out in the film transport direction until the head rises out of contact with the film. Then a spring urges the yoke, actuator and cutting head back to their home position. A punch cycle can be carried out repeatedly on the film while the film is in constant motion.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 2008Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Pearl Technologies IncorporatedInventors: Earl T. Pottorff, Robert J. Tewksbury, Mark J. Clark

Patent number: 7624980Abstract: A rotary vacuum wicketting arrangement has a rotary hub body positioned on a shaft or spindle and supporting a number of pickup arms, and a non-rotating vacuum spinning head that provides vacuum to the rotating hub body and pickup arms over a portion of their arcuate travel. The rotary hub body is provided with a lock ring formed or a pair of half rings with hand levers so that the position of the hub body on the shaft can be adjusted toollessly. The pickup arms are held in place in their sockets by ball and spring detents, so that they can be pulled out for cleaning and reinserted without tools. A friction fitted plug closes off the end of each arm.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2007Date of Patent: December 1, 2009Assignee: Pearl Technologies IncorporatedInventors: Robert J. Tewksbury, Mark J.
