  • Patent number: 12273213
Abstract: Systems and methods implement Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) time protocol (DTP) calibration. A testing laboratory measures a DTP timing error for a test configuration representative of a DOCSIS network to determine DTP calibration data. The DTP calibration data is stored in association with a DTP calibration testing setup of the DOCSIS network in a DTP calibration platform. An operational cable modem termination system (CMTS) conforming to the DTP calibration testing setup retrieves and applies the DTP calibration data from the DTP calibration platform based on the DTP calibration testing setup.

  • Patent number: 6445684
Abstract: Methods for use in code division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems includes identifying signal strength needs (in terms of Eb/No) of wireless devices in a sector of a base station. Signal strength needs are determined as a function of the rate of movement of the wireless devices within the sector. The methods include dynamically adjusting the signal strength to a given Eb/No level for each of the wireless devices as a function of the needs of the majority of wireless devices in the sector, dynamically adjusting the signal strength to given Eb/No levels for different classes of wireless devices as a function of the needs of each class of wireless devices in the sector, and dynamically adjusting the signal strength to given Eb/No levels for each individual wireless device as a function of the need of each wireless device.

  • Patent number: 6441505
Abstract: A backup generator located at a remote site provides the advantages of being compact in size but providing backup power over a long period of time. A multi-level cabinet which includes room for a backup generator and a fuel tank is located in close proximity to the electronic devices for which the power will be provided. The fuel tank may be used to hold propane or a similar fuel, and the tank will be included in a stacked structure with the backup generator. The cabinet for the generator includes sufficient structure to protect the electronics of the backup generator from the elements. Connected between the backup generator and a primary power source to the electronic devices, such as a personal communications system (PCS) site, is a sensor which detects when a power failure has occurred. In the event that such a failure has occurred, the backup generator is activated and provides power to the site electronics.
