  • Patent number: 5524442
Abstract: A cooling system includes a unit for processing product to be cooled or frozen. A secondary refrigeration loop is connected to this unit and introduces a refrigerant at or near atmospheric pressure into the unit. The secondary refrigeration loop may be open or closed. The secondary loop includes a secondary heat exchanger for cooling the refrigerant. A primary, closed refrigeration loop, operating at a pressure of not less than 2 atmospheres, includes a forward flow path which comprises a primary refrigerant compressor for producing compressed primary refrigerant, a primary heat exchanger for receiving and cooling the compressed primary refrigerant and an expander for further cooling and transferring the compressed refrigerant to the secondary heat exchanger to enable cooling of the secondary refrigerant. The primary loop further includes a return flow path from the secondary heat exchanger to the primary refrigerant compressor and to the primary heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 5411307
Abstract: The grip is approximately 31/2 inches long and has a generally U-shaped cross section shape with the sides touching at their edges at the mid length point of the grip and at increasing distances from each other toward the ends of the grip. A flange on the edge of one side extends at 90.degree. to the side toward the other side. The edge of the other side extends beyond the flange and curves away from the flange to form a ledge. The bottom of the U-shape is the bottom of the grip and it is arched upward lengthwise at a radius about 4 times the length of the grip. The flange may extend the full length of the grip or extend only over a central portion of the length. The ledge facilitates engaging the grip on the bail or bails of a bag. The flange inhibits inadvertent disengagement of the grip from the bail(s).

  • Patent number: 5398514
Abstract: A cryogenic rectification system wherein feed partially traverses the primary heat exchanger, thereafter is turboexpanded, and then traverses another portion of the primary heat exchanger reducing the temperature differences between approaching streams within the primary heat exchanger and thus the cycle irreversibilities resulting in lower power requirements.

  • Patent number: 5269736
Abstract: Disclosed is an exercise apparatus that is a combination stationary recumbent cycle-type exerciser and an upper body exerciser, and a method of exercising. In the stationary recumbent cycle mode, the seated operator pedals a conventional pedal mechanism. In the upper body exerciser mode, the operator is in a normal push-up position with the hands on the pedals of the pedal mechanism. Exercising is accomplished by hand pedaling the pedal mechanism while supporting the body weight on the feet and hands. The machine has an adjustment to help support the operator's chest with a chest pad.

  • Patent number: 4987746
Abstract: Water is pumped from a container to a refrigerator ice maker and/or chilled water unit. The apparatus for transferring the water includes a motor operated pump, and the motor is connected directly to a timer within the refrigerator. The timer controls the flow of water to the ice maker by controlling the pump so that the pump operates only when the ice maker (and/or chilled water unit) calls for the water. A check valve may be disposed in the pumped water line between the pump and the water source to prevent loss of pressure in the line due to the bleeding of pressure through the pump.

  • Patent number: 4848097
Abstract: Water is pumped from a container to a refrigerator ice maker and/or chilled water unit. The apparatus for transferring the water includes a motor operated pump, and the motor includes a pair of switches in series for turning the motor off. The switches include a pressure switch actuated from water pressure in the pumped water line and a switch to indicate when the water level in the container is at or below a certain, predetermined minimum. A check valve is in the pumped water line between the pump and the pressure switch to prevent loss of pressure in the line due to the bleeding of pressure through the pump that could otherwise cause the pump to start pumping water when there was no demand for it from the refrigerator.
