  • Publication number: 20160003042
Abstract: A mine shaft protective barrier includes an undercut in a wall surface of the mine shaft proximate to and below a water ingress ingress elevation. A fire-resistant material is applied within the undercut and downward along the wall surface below the to form a coating barrier that extends from the undercut downward along the mine shaft such that water entering the wall surface at the ingress location tends to flow downward into contact with and along an inward facing surface of the coating barrier so as to inhibit such water from flowing in contact with and degrading the wall surface of the mine shaft below the ingress location.

  • Patent number: 9057461
Abstract: A pipe includes a tubular pipe formed of a metal sheet that is spirally wound such that opposite edges of the metal sheet are joined by a crimped lock seam that extends helically along a length of the tubular pipe. A sealing arrangement includes a helically extending worked surface band extending along the crimped lock seam and to both sides of the crimped lock seam, the worked surface band having a surface roughness that is greater than a surface roughness of unworked surface portions outside of the worked surface band. A helically extending external coating band is applied over the crimped lock seam and bonded to the worked surface band.

  • Publication number: 20140102023
Abstract: A plurality of modular pad units each include a rigid foam core having a polymer coating. Each unit has a similar configuration, substantially uniform thickness and a perimeter shape that includes a circular part, a male key part configured for mating with a female keyway part. The units are arranged by interlocking the units such that the male key part of each modular pad unit mates with the female keyway part of another modular pad unit, and the circular parts of the units align to form a circle. The multiple interlocked units providing a circular storage pad that is at least ten feet in diameter and that has a thickness of at least three inches. The bottom of the storage tank is placed directly on the circular storage pad to support and isolate the tank bottom from the ground at the site.
