  • Patent number: 10408810
Abstract: A soil testing method determines available nutrient levels and effective and economical fertilizer/treatment, based on what nutrients in the soil will actually reach the root of a growing plant. A soil is tested to determine initial nutrient(s) available to a plant root if it were growing in that soil when no nutrients have been added, followed by comparing/correlating the initial available nutrient to nutrient requirements for desired plant growth during one or more periods of time and/or to a yield outcome desired. Various doses of fertilizer(s) or treatment(s) are then added to portions of the soil, and those dosed portions are then tested for available nutrient levels, to determine the effect of the fertilizer(s)/treatment(s) on the nutrients that would be available in that particular soil to a plant root if that soil were fertilized with the various doses.

  • Patent number: 9709471
Abstract: An environmental testing and monitoring system uses a sampler to hold resin or other adsorbent for contaminants, pollutants, nutrients, or other chemicals uptake from water or air, and preferably includes remote real-time sensors that detect and transmit physical and/or chemical data by wireless or wired telemetry and GPS systems. The sampler and/or sensors may be attached to a ground-insertion tool having at least one screw portion. The sampler and sensors may be attached to a fixed or floating buoy system that is capable of solar charging or may be affixed to other supports to allow precise placement in, and easy retrieval from, various structures and environments including fresh and saltwater, soil and sediment, water and sludge pipes and vessels, air, and gaseous streams and emissions.

Abstract: A soil testing method determines available nutrient levels and effective and economical fertilizer/treatment, based on what nutrients in the soil will actually reach the root of a growing plant. A soil is tested to give a base-line/reference moisture content, and also initial nutrient(s) available to a plant root (if it were growing in that soil when no nutrients have been added) are determined, followed by comparing/correlating said initial available nutrient to nutrient requirements for desired plant growth during one or more periods of time and/or to a yield outcome desired. Various doses of fertilizer(s) or other treatment composition(s) are then added to portions of the soil, and those dosed portions are then tested for available nutrient levels, to determine the effect of said fertilizer(s)/treatment composition(s) on the nutrients that would be available in that particular soil to a plant root if that soil were fertilized with the various doses.

Time-measured, mass-balanced data sets may be achieved from the extended-time-accumulated values from the resin/adsorbent sampler left in place for an extended time, and preferably from the real-time sensors that transmit a steady stream of information throughout said extended time.
