  • Patent number: 8027362
Abstract: A network management system is provided for allowing a user to interface with network management data provided by a network agent via a network. Application level logic obtains and formats the network management data to thereby create a display presented to the user. A library of software processing structures for sharing data with the network agent is provided, and an abstraction layer distinct from the library is configured in communication with the application level logic. The abstraction layer includes a pusher feature configured to facilitate the writing of data from the application level logic to the network agent and a puller feature configured to facilitate the reading of data from the network agent to the application level logic. The abstraction layer uses the library to communicate with the network agent via the network while isolating the application level logic from the library.

  • Publication number: 20070204156
Abstract: Secure access to a wireless switch or other server node is provided through the use of a temporary key. The server initially receives a key request from a remotely-located client application that is formatted according to a first protocol such as the simple network management protocol (SNMP). In response to the key request, the server generates a temporary key that is provided to the client application and also stored at the server. After receiving the temporary key, the client application creates a service request that includes the temporary key. Examples of suitable protocols for the server request include the common gateway interface (CGI) and active server pages (ASP) formats.

  • Publication number: 20060248508
Abstract: Applet extensibility techniques are provided for customizing an applet by adding custom pages to the applet without changing an original file of the applet. The original file and an extension file, which includes custom pages and an object, are downloaded to a client computer having the applet running thereon. The extension file can then be integrated into the applet by using applet tag parameters to determine the name of the object in the extension file, retrieving the object from the extension file, loading classes specified in the object from the extension file into the applet, and instantiating each class in the applet as a page object based on information provided by the object.
