    Abstract: Disclosed is a process comprising continuously flowing a composition through a hydrolysis zone so as to achieve a residence time distribution such that at least 81% of the area under the residence time distribution curve is within plus or minus 50% of the mean residence time. The composition comprises cellulose triacetate in the range of 5 to 30%, water in the range of 4 to 25%, and acetic acid in the range of 45 to 91%.
