  • Patent number: 12110966
Abstract: A mechanical assembly includes a shaft having a central axis and an outer member having a bore disposed about the shaft, either the shaft or the outer member having a gland defined by a circumferential surface and at least one radial surface and the other one of the shaft and the outer member being angularly displaceable about the central axis. A seal has an annular body disposed within the gland and is formed of an flexible material, preferably a plastic or elastomeric material, the annular body having a main body portion with inner and outer radial ends. An inner sealing lip extends radially inwardly from the inner end of the main body portion and is configured to engage with the shaft. An outer sealing lip extends radially outwardly from the outer radial end of the main body portion and is configured to engage with the outer member.

  • Publication number: 20190107204
Abstract: A seal assembly includes a casing coupled with a body and an annular elastomeric seal member having a base portion coupleable with a casing and a cantilever portion radially deflectable with respect to the base portion. The cantilever portion has an end connected with the base portion and a free end with sealing lip. The lip has a sealing surface extending about a centerline and is engageable with a shaft. An annular rigid tracking member is attached to the seal member proximal to the first end of the seal cantilever portion and is spaced axially from the seal lip. The tracking member has a centerline and a tracking surface engageable by the shaft outer surface so that the tracking member centerline and the seal lip centerline each remain coaxial with the shaft axis during rotation of the shaft. Further, a support member prevents axial displacement of the seal member.

  • Publication number: 20160377182
Abstract: A rotary seal and rotary machine incorporating such a rotary seal. The rotary seal includes a first race defining a plurality of grooves, and a second race defining a plurality of sealing lips. The plurality of sealing lips are disposed in the plurality of grooves such that a compound seal is formed between the first and second races, and the first race and the second race are relatively rotatable.
