  • Patent number: 9909011
Abstract: A method for coating the surface of inorganic solid particles in an aqueous suspension, particularly for coating titanium dioxide with SiO2 includes: a) disagglomeration of the solid particles contained in aqueous suspension, b) addition of a water-soluble precursor of the coating substance to the suspension, c) immediately following step b) homogenization of the suspension, where the temperature and pH value of the suspension do not change significantly in steps a) to c), d) feeding the slurry into a tank and precipitation of the coating substance onto the particle surface and, optionally, application of further coatings, and e) separation of the solid particles from the suspension. The method produces to a highly homogeneous and continuous skin on the particle surface, and to less separately precipitated coating substance.

  • Publication number: 20080116303
Abstract: A method for the agitator milling of solid particles, particularly of titanium dioxide, where the suspension with a maximum particle size of 2 ?m is milled in closed-circuit mode and subjected to continuous classification by sedimentation in a tank after each pass through the mill. The method results in milled solid particles with narrower particle size distributions, particularly titanium dioxide pigments with improved optical properties, such as tinting strength and gloss.

  • Publication number: 20070115655
Abstract: A new and useful lighting system is provided, that is particularly useful as a lighting system for a deck (e.g. a ship deck), where pilots taking off from or landing on the deck often use night vision goggles. In addition, a new and useful optical projection structure for a portion of the lighting system is provided. The lighting system comprises at least a pair of lighting subsystems that project light to a volume space with different spatial distributions. One subsystem projects light to the volume space with a predetermined spatial distribution, and the other lighting subsystem projects light to the volume space with a different spatial distribution, in a manner that effectively supplements the projected light from the first subsystem, so as to provide a lighting system that effectively illuminates the entire volume space. Moreover, the system is designed to be particularly compatible with the optical capabilities of night vision goggles.
