    Abstract: A composition and method of detecting counterfeit paper currency includes applying a test solution to a paper currency having ink printed thereon. If the paper currency is counterfeit, the test solution causes the ink to release from the paper currency. If the paper currency is genuine, the ink will not release from the paper currency. The test solution may be an aqueous-alcohol solution having a chemical thickener, and preferably includes a de-foaming agent, a bactericide/fungicide and a fragrance.
