  • Patent number: 5889121
Abstract: The use of a minor amount of poly-1-butene for improving the processability or extrusion efficiency of a metallocene-made thermoplastics, particularly metallocene-made low density polyethylene, by adding about 0.1-15 wt % of poly-1-butene to the metallocene-made thermoplastics which are melt incompatible with the poly-l-butene prior to processing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 4, 1996
Date of Patent: March 30, 1999
    Assignee: Shell Oil Company
Inventors: Charles C. Hwo, Mark L. Kasakevich, Jerry W. Secrist
  • Patent number: 5104733
Abstract: A laminated structure comprising a polybutylene layer and a metal layer bonded together with an adhesive composition comprising an acid functionalized selectively hydrogenated block copolymer having at least one block which is predominantly a monoalkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon polymer block and at least one block which is a hydrogenated conjugated diolefin polymer block.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 23, 1990
Date of Patent: April 14, 1992
    Assignee: Shell Oil Company
Inventors: Mark L. Kasakevich, Jennifer L. Engle, David J. St. Clair
  • Patent number: 5082613
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the formation of polybutylene pipes having improved mechanical properties, by reduction in the rate of cooling of the extrudate used to form the pipe sections. Preferably, the ratio of the cooling bath residence time in minutes divided by the cooling water temperature in degrees Fahrenheit is selected to be in the range of from about 0.004 to about 0.010.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 23, 1990
Date of Patent: January 21, 1992
    Assignee: Shell Oil Company
Inventors: Mark L. Kasakevich, Donald H. Krasner, Jerry W. Secrist, Roland O. Meuhlner
