  • Patent number: 4408058
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the synthesis of ortho-sulfobenzoic acid anhydride which comprises heating a 2-sulfohalide benzoate in the presence of a catalytic amount of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst. Especially preferred in the practice of this invention is the reaction of ortho-carbomethoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride in the presence of a zinc or iron halide to produce ortho-sulfobenzoic acid anhydride.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 4, 1983
    Assignee: The Sherwin-Williams Company
Inventors: Mark L. Mitchell, III, Richard P. Carr
  • Patent number: 4122229
Abstract: Copolyamides derived from mixed acids (a polymeric fatty acid and short-chain dibasic acid) and mixed amines (a polyoxyalkylene diamine and a short-chain diamine) are provided. These thermoplastic resin compositions are excellent reinforcing adhesives for flexible substrates and are particularly useful as box-toe construction resins.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 1977
Date of Patent: October 24, 1978
    Assignee: Emery Industries, Inc.
