  • Publication number: 20240146982
Abstract: A method and system provide the ability to deliver media content. A packager receives an original encrypted transport stream, and segments the stream into multiple fixed-duration transport stream files (chunks). The packager further generates a manifest file that describes the chunks and is consistent with a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) live streaming (HLS) protocol. The manifest file and chunks are delivered to a content delivery network (CDN). An enhanced HLS client is embed in an integrated receiver decoder (IRD). The enhanced HLS client retrieves the manifest file and the chunks from the CDN, and reconstructs the original encrypted transport stream for use by a service provider network.

  • Publication number: 20230328217
Abstract: Method, apparatus and computer readable media for receiving a multiprogram program transport service that includes one or more compressed video services and one or more 3D-2D conversion options, generating an uncompressed video signal by performing a decoding portion of a transcoding operation for one of the one or more of the video services, determining from the 3D-2D conversion option whether a 3D-2D conversion is to be performed, performing a scale conversion on the uncompressed video according to a specified type of 3D-2D conversion, generating a compressed video service by performing an encoding portion of a transcoding operation on the uncompressed video that has been scale converted, and generating a second multiprogram program transport service that includes the compressed video signal that has been 3D-2D converted.

  • Patent number: 9258578
Abstract: A device is provided for use with an input signal and a selecting signal. The input signal has a first format, and the selecting signal has a first state and a second state. The device comprises a receiving portion and a transcoder portion. The receiving portion can receive the input signal and output a received signal. The transcoder portion is arranged to receive the selecting signal and can output a first transcoded signal when the selecting signal is in the first state and can output a second transcoded signal when the selecting signal is in the second state. The first transcoded signal is based on the received signal and is in a second format. The second transcoded signal is based on the received signal and is in a third format, wherein the first format is different from the second format, the first format is different from the third format and the second format is different from the third format.
