  • Publication number: 20250228369
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a reclining seating assembly and a reclining seat. The assembly and set include a seat frame and a base frame, configured to connect to the seat frame by a hinge. The assembly and seat include a support frame configured to connect to the base frame, an actuator configured to connect to the support frame and the seat frame, and a pair of linkage mechanisms. Each linkage mechanism has a base plate and a seat plate configured to connect by a plurality of linking arms, the base plate of each linkage mechanism configured to connect to the base frame and the seat plate of each linkage mechanism configured to connect to the seat frame, where the reclining seating assembly is configured to move between a reclined position and a seated position by extension or contraction of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 12232618
Abstract: A simplified, compact, recliner mechanism is provided which can be adapted to many types of recliner design. A front linkage assembly and a rear linkage assembly provide the desired movement of the seat and back when moving from the TV position to the fully reclined position, obviating the need for a track and roller design. Moreover, a front pivot link and a rear pivot link are provided and oriented in a manner that allows the desired forward seat movement as the recliner moves from the closed position to the TV position. The geometries of the front linkage assembly, the rear linkage assembly, the front pivot link and the rear pivot link allow a slim profile design allowing great flexibility in the design of the recliner.

  • Patent number: 12201218
Abstract: A lift and recliner mechanism for use in seating units is provided that allows the ottoman to be extended independently of the back recline. In some aspects, the seat pitch is changed through a linkage as the ottoman extends, and as the back reclines. In other aspects, the seat pitch is changed using a separate motor. The seating unit can be moved to a lifted position, a TV position, a fully-reclined position, or a zero-gravity position with the ottoman partially extended, the seat pitch partially changed and the back partially reclined.

  • Publication number: 20240365980
Abstract: A high leg seating unit is disclosed herein. The seating unit comprises two sides spaced from one another, a seat extending between the two sides, and an extendable ottoman having a mid-ottoman, a main ottoman, and a flipper ottoman. The chair is operable by a linkage mechanism having a first void for accommodating the mid-ottoman in the closed position and a second void for accommodating the flipper ottoman in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20240365979
Abstract: A recliner mechanism is provided with independently operable motors. Each motor may effect an independent movement. For example, three motors may be provided: a seat pitch motor causing a rotation of the seat to change the seat pitch in relation to the support surface on which the recliner sits; an ottoman motor to extend and retract an ottoman; and a back motor causing a rotation of the back in relation to the seat. And, due to an improved positioning of the pivot point for the seat in relation to the pivot point of the ottoman motor; and positioning of the pivot point of the seat in relation to the pivot point of the back rotation motor, the independent operation of each of the motors is achieved without the need for any special, coordinated programming of the motors.

  • Publication number: 20240108136
Abstract: An all-linkage mechanism for a seating unit is provided that allows the ottoman to be extended between a closed position and an extended position, with the top face of the ottoman facing upwardly during the entire motion. The mechanism is motorized, and may be stopped in a position intermediate the closed and extended positions, such as a laptop position. The mechanism is compact, allowing use on a high-leg, wood-to-the-floor seating unit.

  • Patent number: 11730267
Abstract: A linkage for use in reclining furniture may include a back bracket supported by forward and rear back pivot links. The bottom of the rear back pivot link may be pivotably coupled to a rear lift link and the bottom of the forward back pivot link may be pivotably coupled to the rear lift link in a different location. A control link may be pivotably coupled on one end to one of the forward back pivot link and the rear back pivot link. The control link may pull the pivoting linkage of the back bracket and the forward and back pivot links as the overall linkage is moved from a closed to a TV to a full-recline position. The resulting pivot point for the back is projected upwardly and forwardly, to a point where an upholstered back and seat meet on a finished chair.

  • Patent number: 11596233
Abstract: A compact recliner mechanism for use in theater seating units is provided that allows the seat to move linearly as the seating unit moves from the closed position to the reclined position. The mechanism has a back bracket coupled to the seat plate and base plate with a linkage that moves a projected point representing the top of the back of the seating unit downwardly in vertical plane as the seating unit moves from the closed position to the reclined position. In other aspects, the seating unit has an armrest linkage coupled between the seat plate and the back that maintains an armrest lever at a horizontal orientation. Additionally, in some aspects, the base plate of the seating unit may have an adjustment feature that limits recline of the seating unit, to accommodate theater seating with different riser dimensions, and/or legs with an adjustment feature to level the seating unit on existing theater floors.
