Publication number: 20210012447Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for processing firearm-related data. Stored on a blockchain are a hash of a firearm license and personal data identifying the licensee, which can be used to retrieve the hash from the blockchain. When the licensee wishes to acquire a firearm, the licensee produces a copy of the license that, to the vendor, is unverified. The vendor retrieves the hash from the blockchain and independently determines a hash of the unverified license. When the two hashes match, the vendor trusts that the previously unverified license is authentic. A non-blockchain database is also used to store a copy of the license, providing redundancy and data integrity/security.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2019Publication date: January 14, 2021Inventors: Mathieu Glaude, Mark Lawson
