  • Publication number: 20040122387
Abstract: An absorbent article that contains a substrate that is, upon application of a force, stretchable to a stretched, biased length that is at least about 150% of its unstretched length, is provided. The stretchable substrate is applied with an odor control material that is increasingly exposable to malodors when the substrate is stretched.

  • Publication number: 20030192152
Abstract: A male component of a male and female fastening system, such as a hook and loop fastener, that can remain fastened to a female component under high levels of shear force. The male component has a backing material with projections extending from the backing material at an angle toward the direction of fastener force. The combination of the male component with a standard female loop component results in a secure fastening system. The combination of the male component with a standard female loop component is particularly beneficial when used in absorbent articles.

  • Publication number: 20020003142
Abstract: A closure (3) for a container (1), the container having a mouth (16) surrounded by an external flange (7) extending generally away from the mouth, the closure comprising a closure body (9) adapted to extend across the mouth, a skirt (15) which is disposed below the level of the container flange when the closure is initially secured to the container and the mouth is uppermost, the skirt being connected to the margin of the body by a plurality of spaced-apart bridges (19) which lie adjacent to the outer margin of the flange in the initially secured condition of the A closure, and a plurality of upwardly-facing latching formations (20) depending from the skirt (15) and each disposed circumferentially between adjacent bridges (19) as viewed in plan and adapted to latch under the flange (7), the upper portion (23) of the latching formations each lying vertically beneath a respective tool access aperture (25) provided in the margin of the closure body.

  • Patent number: 6276032
Abstract: An article (10), has a first article portion (12), a second article portion (14), and a fastener (36). The fastener secures the first article portion to the second article portion and includes at least one first fastener component (70), which is attached to the first portion of the article. A cooperating, second fastener component (72) is mechanically interengageable with the first fastener component (70) and is attached to the second portion of the article (14). The first fastener component (70) includes a plurality of engagement members (56) having a first quantity of engageable stalk members (94).

  • Patent number: 6210389
Abstract: An article (10) has a lengthwise longitudinal direction (26), a lateral cross-direction (24), a first article portion (12), a second article portion (14), and a fastener (36) for securing the first article portion (12) to the second article portion (14). The fastener (36) includes at least one first fastener component (70) attached to a lateral side section (86) of the first article portion (12), and a cooperating, second fastener component (72) attached to the second article portion (14). The first fastener component includes an engagement substrate (56) having an appointed lift region (54), and a plurality of engagement members (40), such as the representatively shown hook members, which are operably attached to extend away from the engagement substrate. The lift region (54) is disposed along at least a longitudinally extending, outboard edge of the engagement substrate (56), and the lift region contains a plurality of engagement members which have been substantially deactivated.
