Abstract: Generating content to satisfy search engines queries is described. A knowledge base including a plurality of prior search queries for a search engine and corresponding prior search results provided by the search engine is accessed and a plurality of underserved search queries are identified, wherein each of the underserved search queries comprises a search query pattern having a below threshold number of search results. Each of the underserved search queries are heuristically related to one another. The plurality of underserved search queries are aggregated into a taxonomy category having a set of associated attributes, the attributes descriptive of the plurality of underserved search queries. Targeted content is generated based on the attributes, wherein the targeted content is tailored satisfy the underserved search queries.

In at least some embodiments, a presence-based network is utilized to provide a parent or other adult who is in a position to approve or deny a request, more timely access to information to facilitate the decision-making process.

Abstract: Secure extensibility access to application program interfaces (APIs) is described. Techniques are described in which trust indicia are used determine relative trustworthiness of an extensibility module attempting to access of APIs of an application module. Access to APIs of the application module is managed based upon trustworthiness of the extensibility module.

Abstract: Advertisements are incorporated into alerts generated for a user. A server-side alert delivery system can be used by a partner server, client device, or other server to deliver an alert to a user about some event the user has requested. A relevant advertisement is selected based upon the content of the alert and other data. In some cases, the time of day of the alert and/or the location to which the alert is delivered may be considered in selecting the advertisement. The alert may be provided to a user through different services and devices, including an instant messaging service, mail service, or through a mobile device.
