Publication number: 20080092261Abstract: A glove with an integrally formed arm trough has a hand portion, arm portion and a cuff portion. The arm portion is provided with a first ridge, a second ridge with a larger diameter compared to the arm portion, and a third ridge. During use, the third ridge is pushed towards the first ridge by the user to extend the second ridge away from the arm and towards the hand portion forming a liquid capturing trough while the cuff portion protects from the arm from liquid exposure. The length between the third ridge and the second ridge is larger than the length between the first and second ridge so that the trough created has a positive cone angle and a depth to sufficient to provide liquid volume capacity. The ridges are shaped as sharp edges or C-sections to provide easy forming of the liquid capturing arm trough.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2006Publication date: April 24, 2008Applicant: Ansell Healthcare Products LLCInventors: Loo Liong Yu, David Mark Lucas, Ong Chin Kok, Karunagaran A/L Arumugam, Dave Narasimhan

Patent number: 7037579Abstract: The present invention provides a method of making an elastomeric article including preparing a non-woven fibrous polymer composition for dip-coating onto a layer of carboxylated acrylonitrile-butadiene elastomeric surface and in particular making industrial or household gloves. By dipping a former into a salt-based coagulant, followed by dipping into an elastomeric dispersion, and finally dipping into a polymer composite fibrous coating, a useful elastomeric article is prepared. The invention also provides an elastomeric article having a first layer, the first layer comprising a natural or synthetic polymer; and a second layer bonded to the first layer, the second layer comprising a polymer composite fibrous coating. The polymer composite fibrous coating includes at least one elastomer or elastomer blend, a fiber or fiber blend, a surfactant, and a micronised wax. The coating can be foamed, and provides improved sweat management and non-shredding properties to a user.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2003Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: Ansell Healthcare Products LLCInventors: Noorman Bin Abu Hassan, David Mark Lucas, Nuzaimah Binti Mustafa

Patent number: 6647079Abstract: In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a circuit is provided which is configured to recover clock and data streams from an incoming signal. The circuit comprises a multiplexer having first and second inputs, and an output. The first input is configured to receive the incoming signal, and the second input is configured to receive a reference clock signal, while the output selectively supplies one of the incoming and reference clock signals. A toggling circuit, such as a flip-flop, and a frequency multiplier circuit are further provided which are coupled to the multiplexer output. A filter circuit is coupled to the frequency multiplier circuit, and the output of the filter circuit is coupled to a second input of the toggling circuit. Moreover, the output of the filtering circuit corresponds to the recovered clock stream, and an output of the toggling circuit corresponds to the recovered data stream.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1999Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Ciena CorporationInventors: William J. Publication number: 20030063863Abstract: An apparatus and method for assembling and interconnecting stacked optoelectronic circuit boards is described. The circuit boards are rotatably attached using a mechanism such as a hinge. Transmission lines such as optical fibers interconnecting the boards are guided parallel to or on the rotational axis of the attachment for a portion of their length. Bending stress on fiber optic interconnects due to relative motion of the circuit boards is minimized. Signals can be transmitted between the boards at any angle within a rotational range about the axis. This enhances access to components on stacked circuit boards and allows service procedures to be carried out efficiently.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2001Publication date: April 3, 2003Inventors: Bruno Nardelli, Mark Lucas, Jeffery V. Patent number: 6024476Abstract: A sign illuminator is described wherein a bundle of light conducting fibers are plied to a light diffusing plate having a plurality of recesses which receive the ends of the fibers in the bundle after the bundle is passed through an opening in the plate from an exterior side to an interior side. The plate is sized and shaped to conform to a channel in the sign so that when the light fibers are inserted into the light diffusing plate their light provides a back illumination for the sign. A light reflecting surface can be placed alongside the interior surface of the light diffusing plate to provide additional light use for the illumination of the sign. The sign can be letters or numbers or have such other shape as appears desirable.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1998Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: US Sign and Fabrication CorporationInventor: Mark Lucas Wakeman

Patent number: 6002971Abstract: A method and apparatus involving the application of an algorithm used for finding the time optimal trajectory for torque limited Industrial Robots, to achieve the operation of Cluster Tool Robots in an improved manner by modifying the applied algorithm through adding two additional constraints, i.e., jerk (the rate of change of acceleration) and the acceleration seen by the load. This modification renders it possible to create a robot arm trajectory that minimizes travel time by minimizing the excitation of uncontrolled resonances and avoiding command of an acceleration that would exceed the force of friction between a substrate holder on the end of the arm and a substrate held thereon by friction.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1997Date of Patent: December 14, 1999Assignee: Brooks Automation, Inc.Inventor: Brian Mark Lucas

Patent number: 5763814Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical initiator which can be used with an automobile air bag or seat belt pretensioner. The initiator comprises a header, a cup, conducting pins, epoxy pin seals, a bridgewire, a primer, and an output charge. The header and the cup are composed of an insulating dielectric material capable of being ultrasonically welded together. The header secures the pins. Each pin is electrically conductive and each is formed with a buttress knurl to form a seal when each pin is inserted into the header. Additionally, the pins are further sealed to the header by an epoxy sealant. The bridgewire connects the pins together on one side of the header. An electrical signal through the bridgewire generates heat igniting the primer. Primer reacts with the output charge that in turn ignites a solid gas generant that produces gas that fills air bags or activates the gas generator that drives seat belt pretensioners. The primer contacts the bridgewire. The output charge contacts the primer.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1996Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: Quanti Industries, Inc.Inventors: Mark Lucas Avory, William David Fahey, Stewart Shannon Fields, Charles Joyce Moore, Jr., Charles John Piper, III, David Whang
