  • Patent number: 7541105
Abstract: Epitaxial ferroelectric and magnetic recording structures having graded lattice matching layers are disclosed. A single crystal material such as Si may be used as a substrate material upon which the graded lattice matching layers are deposited. The lattice matching layers may comprise metals and metal alloys, or may comprise oxides doped with selected elements or deposited under different oxygen pressures. A recording layer, such as ferroelectric lead zirconium titanate or a magnetic Fe/Pt multilayer structure, is deposited on the graded lattice matching layers.

  • Patent number: 7386520
Abstract: Method for dynamically allocating a cost to an e-mail that a first user of a transmission network such as the Internet network or an Intranet network who is a member of a group, wants to forward to a second user of the transmission network who is also a member of the group. The method comprising the steps of forwarding by the first user the e-mail to a market engine in charge of allocating a cost to the e-mail, determining by the market engine the cost of the e-mail based upon intrinsic and extrinsic criteria, submitting the cost of the e-mail to the first user for agreement, forwarding by the market engine the e-mail to the second user, and updating a credit account associated with the first user.

  • Publication number: 20060256694
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a moveable arm for positioning an optical transducer adjacent to a storage medium, a light source, and an elliptical or ellipsoid shaped mirror mounted for reflecting light from the light source to the optical transducer. The elliptical mirror can be positioned on an ellipse, the moveable arm can pivot about an axis passing through a first focus of the ellipse, and the light source can direct light from a point on a second axis passing through a second focus of the ellipse to the elliptical mirror. The light source can comprise a fixed laser and a moveable mirror mounted to pivot about the second axis or a moveable laser mounted to pivot about the second axis. A method performed by the apparatus is also provided.
