A system for public notification of emergency situations or for alerting the public of incidents uses one or more servers in a firewalled environment that is segregated from the general Internet. The system receives a data feed from the REST API of computer aided dispatch systems used by the authorities in a jurisdiction (e.g. police and emergency services). The data is converted into standardized nomenclature and is transmitted to apps installed on user computing devices.

Only traffic destined for addresses internal to the private network are allowed within the network. Access nodes control access to the private network while other types of traffic for the network, including radio and text messaging traffic may also use the private network for a secure communications link between source and destination nodes. Preferably, the communication links are end to end encrypted. As well, preferably, video and data streams from monitored facilities are transmitted to central monitoring offices using the private network.

Users of the system can also share links to access content associate with the property.

Abstract: An emergency call back system is described to enable off-duty officers to be contacted in emergency events. The officers can provide an estimated arrival time in response to the call back message from their mobile device and arrival time tracking can be performed to show when officers will arrive in response to the request. Contact information in the database is encrypted and can only be decrypted using a decryption key provided to a party external to the database provider.
