  • Publication number: 20070263855
Abstract: An electrical receptacle with an open corner region facilitates electrical connection between an electrical device positioned in the receptacle and a conduit, cable or like wiring that passes through the open corner region. The open corner region is defined by a side wall, top face and rear wall of the receptacle. The receptacle is particularly adapted for use with electrical devices that include a connector that aligns with the open corner region, e.g., an access point.

  • Publication number: 20070254530
Abstract: An electrical plug is defined by a plug housing and an upper portion of a printed circuit board. The plug housing defines a region within which the upper portion of the printed circuit board is adapted to be positioned. Stepped side walls may be provided to facilitate sliding introduction and support of the upper portion of the printed circuit board. A locking structure, e.g., a deflectable locking tooth, is associated with the plug housing for engaging a locking aperture on the upper portion of the printed circuit board. A plurality of exposed contacts are provided on the upper portion of the printed circuit board that align with channels formed in the plug housing. The exposed contacts communicate with traces on the printed circuit board and are available for electrical communication with an associated jack.

  • Publication number: 20070254714
Abstract: An access point device and access point system support wireless and wired communications. The access point includes a front face and a rear housing sized to fit within a conventional wall box, e.g., a single gang box. The electrical components associated with the access point device include a plurality of printed circuit boards that are configured in an H-shaped or U-shaped manner, such that they fit within the rear housing. Interface members are provided to facilitate communications between and among the printed circuit boards. At least one jack is provided in the front face of the access device for wired communication, and a plug is outwardly directed from the rear housing to facilitate network connection. Power for the access point device is supplied over a cable or conduit that engages the outwardly directed plug using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology.

  • Publication number: 20070184712
Abstract: A curved or arcuate patch panel is configured to be mounted to a rack or console. The patch panel facilitates cable management functions and enhances space utilization at and around the rack/patch panel assembly. The patch panel includes an elongated patch panel element having a predominantly curved length extent and exhibiting a peak region, preferably located at the center of the patch panel. The patch panel also includes flange members that extend from the elongated patch panel element, and that define a mounting face for the patch panel. Optionally, the flange members further define an extension arm that is intermediate to the mounting face and the elongated patch panel element. The extension arm is dimensioned to facilitate at least partial recessing of the elongated patch panel element relative to the rack/console when the patch panel is mounted thereto.

  • Publication number: 20060181398
Abstract: A patch panel and power distribution system is provided. The system generally includes a chassis, a connector assembly, a power supply and a controller. The connector assembly operates to connect first and second network transmission media. The power supply is adapted to supply output power to remotely located devices. The connector assembly and the power supply are each supported (at least in part) by the chassis, which is generally mounted with respect to a rack. The disclosed patch panel and power distribution system obviates the need to separately mount/locate a power supply and facilitates access to/maintenance of the overall system. Accessory features and functionalities are associated with the disclosed patch panel and power distribution system, e.g., common mode chokes for introduction of DC power to data communication lines and light emitting diodes (LEDs) for indicating the power-related status of one or more ports associated with the patch panel.

  • Publication number: 20050152323
Abstract: A plug-in Wi-Fi access point device and system is provided that is configured for Wi-Fi or other wireless network and to be directly plugged into a face plate/workstation. The plug-in Wi-Fi access point device and system advantageously provides ease of integration into an existing wired network without the use of a patch cord, security from removal by unauthorized personnel, non obtrusiveness in relation to other face plate/workstation jacks, and the ability to be powered through an Ethernet connection to avoid the need for a separate power source. Furthermore, the plug-in Wi-Fi access point device and system may beneficially permit the integration of complementary connections within the access point including, for example, data, voice, and video connection types.

  • Publication number: 20050152306
Abstract: An access point device and system that offers Wi-Fi access and is easily integratable into its environment is provided. The access point device and system is advantageously well suited for integrating operative aspects of a Wi-Fi access point in a wall using, for example, standard switch and outlet boxes and/or standard wall plates. The access point device and system can advantageously be well suited for incorporating a wiring structure such as, for example, a 110 block or the like, suitable for use in connecting to a wired network. Further, the access point device and system may beneficially permit the integration of complementary connections within the access point including, for example, data, voice, video, CATV or other like connection types.
