Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for managing commitments, reducing measurement error, and making safe disclosures. The method and system address the problems of managing commitments, reducing measurement error, and making safe disclosures by providing three inter-related facilities. The first facility is a contingent commitment facility that enables users to formulate and submit sets of contingent commitments and tests those sets for logical consistency and syntactical correctness. The second facility is a valuation facility that enables users to estimate the value of an arbitrary collection of assets, liabilities, or other quantities. The third facility is a negotiation facility that enables two agents to bilaterally negotiate while protecting their negotiation strategy and allowing the agents to form a binding legal contract on the basis of the negotiation.
