Publication number: 20050227783Abstract: A putter-type golf club head is provided having enhanced moment of inertia and alignment characteristics. The putter head includes a front body and a weight body. The weight body includes a central weight section extending rearwardly from the front body a prescribed distance to a rear weight section. The putter head is configured such that the rear weight section has a width less than the width of the front body and greater than a width of the central weight section. Thus, both the longitudinal and lateral moments of inertia are improved to offer greater forgiveness and increased accuracy during putts. The central weight section may include at least one and more preferably two elongated, high-density elements that are visible on a top surface of the sole between the front body and the rear weight section. The visibility of the elongated elements, with optional parallel markings on a top surface of the golf club head, also act as alignment aids to the golfer.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2005Publication date: October 13, 2005Inventors: Thomas Olsavsky, Sean Toulon, Mark Morgulis, Steven Gray

Publication number: 20040038746Abstract: A golf club putter head having putter body with a toe region, a central region, and a heel region, the central region having a front recess and a rear recess separated by a central wall joining the heel and toe regions. Front and rear inserts are disposed within the respective front and rear recesses. This construction affords structural integrity and greater manufacturing ease over the construction of putters having toe and heel regions that are entirely separated from each other. The inserts preferably are formed of materials having a lower density than that of the putter body, with the particular material being selected according to a golfer's preference in feel. A decorative element can be included with the rear insert, to achieve final head weighting and cosmetic appeal. The thickness of the central wall, and the density and thickness of the inserts, are selected to provide the putter head with a desired moment of inertia.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2002Publication date: February 26, 2004Inventors: Bret Wahl, Katrina D. Buerkle, Sean Toulon, Mark Morgulis, Benoit Vincent

Patent number: 6616547Abstract: A golf club head is disclosed that comprises a body having a striking face and a sole, wherein a recess is formed in the sole. An insert is located within the sole recess, the insert including a core and an intermediate layer that at least partially separates the core from the recess wall. The intermediate layer has a hardness and a modulus of elasticity that are less than that of the core, such that when the golf club head is used to strike a golf ball, the resulting vibrations are dissipated by compression of the intermediate layer and movement of the core with respect to the intermediate layer.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2001Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: Taylor Made Golf Company, Inc.Inventors: Benoit Vincent, Bret Wahl, Mark Morgulis, Michael R. Peters, Jean-Pierre Renaudin

Patent number: 5210925Abstract: A knife is fabricated by first preparing a steel knife blade with an integrally attached steel tang, usually by forging. Aluminum is die cast over the tang to form a quillen, a butt, and a handle base intermediate the quillen and the butt. A polymeric handle is injection molded over the handle base.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1992Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Assignee: Buck Knives, Inc.Inventor: Mark Morgulis
