    Abstract: A socket contact having a mating portion, a crimp portion, and a transition region connecting the mating portion with the crimp portion. The mating portion includes a first contact beam and a second contact beam. The first contact beam has a cantilevered portion with at least one first contact finger with a first contact point. The first contact beam also has an inflexible first fixed contact point which is positioned on the surface of the first contact beam. As a mating pin is inserted through the front aperture of the mating portion, the mating pin engages the first finger contact point causing the first contact beam to deflect. The mating pin then engages the inflexible first fixed contact point at a shallow mating angle and a reduced normal force, resulting in the first contact beam of the mating portion of the socket contacting the mating pin at multiple points of contact.

The computer-readable medium may include instructions for routing messages and data from the execution unit through the computing system interface to a connected computing system. Further, encrypted application data may be routed through the cryptographic unit to the execution unit to thereby transform the encrypted application into executable data for use by the computing system. Also, the device may decrement a number of metering units stored at the device during execution of the encrypted application by the computer.

    Abstract: A compact, wide field of view, infrared imaging system with two Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) and, optionally, an additional one Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) band, has a single, color corrected lens element embedded within the detector/dewar assembly. The lens element has two aspherical surface profiles and utilizes a holographic optical element to manipulate and detect bands of energy that are harmonic components of each other. The infrared imaging system simplifies and shrinks the MWIR/LWIR imager while maintaining all of the required functionality. An exemplary infrared imaging apparatus performs at an F-stop (F/#) of at least 1.4 with a square field of view of 90×90 degrees.

Each slot includes a first and a second interior surface separated by a distance. Channels are defined in each surface and are adapted to receive a portion of a terminal. When the terminal is fully inserted into the opening the terminal portion is substantially adjacent to a surface within the channel and a contact region of the terminal is substantially centered between the first and second interior surfaces of the slot so as to enable lateral movement of the contact portion between the first and second surfaces when the component is inserted.

    Abstract: Described is a technology by which a single physical storage device such as a USB flash memory device is able to boot different computing devices via corresponding different operating systems. The storage device includes a selection mechanism that determines which virtual disk (corresponding to a LUN) is seen by the host as the currently active LUN having sector 0, and therefore is the boot disk. The selection mechanism also may select which (if any) other LUNs are visible to the host. The selection mechanism and accompanying indicator may be operated when the storage device is disconnected, e.g., via manual switches and/or LEDs, buttons and/or a display (e.g., via internal power). Also described is allowing each LUN to have a user-friendly name.

    Abstract: Inline pattern matching and policy enforcement may be implemented by a memory storage device. In an example embodiment, a device-implemented method includes acts of receiving, intercepting, and performing and conditional acts of invoking or permitting. A request from a host to perform a memory access operation is received at a memory storage device. Data flowing between an I/O channel and physical storage of the memory storage device is intercepted. A pattern matching procedure is performed on the data with reference to multiple target patterns in real-time while the data is being intercepted. If a pattern match is detected between the data and a target pattern, a policy enforcement mechanism is invoked. If a pattern match is not detected between the data and the multiple target patterns, the request from the host to perform the memory access operation is permitted.

    Abstract: To protect against software piracy, a storage media has a cryptographically protected area that stores software to be installed onto a target device, such as a computer. The storage media may include a non-secure area holding boot files and an installation program. The installation program may gather target device-specific data for use by a certifying authority in generating a key that allows access to the secure area of the storage media only during the installation process. In this manner, a user never has access to the raw installation files, limiting the ability to copy and distribute those files for installation on non-authorized computers. The certifying authority may also prepare target device-specific data applied to the software before installation to create a custom software image that will only execute on the target device and that can be verified by the host OS prior to execution, allowing integrity confirmation.
